Re: R Pi Z(W) how to connect (switch) between two WiFi points.

(Blush) Ok. Believe me when I say that I *AM* really trying to get it working. Because of all the other attempts I am just ..... frustrated ? ....... at it being so "difficult" to get working. Thanks. Shall edit and try again. "Dumb question" After I edit it, so I need to reboot before trying the ne...

Re: R Pi Z(W) how to connect (switch) between two WiFi points.

I'll just add that I have (since) rebooted the Pi. It is sitting there.... looking dumb. Guessing (yes, guessing for now) that it will be a repeat of WLAN0 not assigned, or what ever the message was last time. As it is headless and I have only one monitor, it is painful if it doesn't boot finding ou...

Re: R Pi Z(W) how to connect (switch) between two WiFi points.

Well, this is what happens when I do it: With SSID and passwords negated. Re: R Pi Z(W) how to connect (switch) between two WiFi points.

Sorry.

My bad.

I was certain that when you pointed that out, I did.

Maybe - and sorry for the excuse - it was I brought back old files from past attempts when it didn't work.

Re: R Pi Z(W) how to connect (switch) between two WiFi points.

Well, bad news. It doesn't work. I powered up the Pi, did what you said, ran the command and waited. (and waited and waited.) Finally I had to connect the monitor and keyboard and boot the Pi. Wlan0 not associated. Here are two screen grabs. Working and not working. They will save me posting all the...

Thanks. That was left over from past attempts to get it working other ways. Sorry I didn't remove it before doing this, but please understand I am not wanting to waste people's time. Just that all this is WAY BEYOND my knowledge base. Shall report back with updates soon. Another "Yak" has arrived an...

Thanks very much.

It isn't that I am not grateful, but your wpa_supplicant example didn't have two entries.

Could you show me - Yes, I'm stupid - and clarify how I switch from one to the other and back?

R Pi Z(W) how to connect (switch) between two WiFi points.

I am going around in circles with this. I have a RPZ(X) running Stretch - as up to date as I can get it. It (obviously) connects to WiFi but I want to be able to switch between which WiFi SSID I am connected. I've read posts about what to do, but they all fall over because I am probably not getting ...

Re: Permission denied (publickey).

Topguy, Ok, in response: One is Ubuntu so it can't be the same OS. I think MusicPi is Jessie, and the others are the latest version. MusicPi has NO files in ~/.ssh I deleted them all and started over because of possible goofs I did earlier on and wanted all to be good. Tpyokingg: (smile) As said: th...

Re: Permission denied (publickey).

Quick reply...... Just to recap on what happened: (Slight back story) Originally I could ssh to all machines and had to enter THEIR passwords. This became tedious. I read about the way of having a key and using it. I applied it. It worked. I re-arranged the hierarchy of the machine and which was the...

Re: I want to set up a VPN on a RPI (I really think this is the right term)

Thanks. But as I mentioned, I got OpenVPN and ran their install script. (On a remote machine and it is not available just now) It started off and went through a couple of questions then...... (Dramatic sound!) It basically said something like: I am about to set up this machine to ONLY HAVE OPENVPN O...

Permission denied (publickey).

Yes, I know....... There have been a lot of posts about this problem. This is a Jessie machine I have. I am 99.99% sure it used to work, but I messed up my key on the main machine and so set about cleaning up all my RPIs. I went to each RPI, went into the .ssh directory and deleted the authorized_ke...

Much appreciated.

So it won't take over the RPI and what it already is/has/does?

I want to set up a VPN on a RPI (I really think this is the right term)

I know I have mistaken VNC and VPN before. I want to have a RPI sitting at home and if I am out, I can connect to it securely and do things on my network. As in control stuff at my place remotely. That's a VPN - yes? I have been looking around and the only one I can find/have found is openvpn and wh...

Ras Pi 2 WAP question

I have a working WAP on a RPI 2 (OLD version). It has the EDIMAX dongle and no real problem - I hope. Recently I have been doing work on the WiFi side but there is nothing working yet. The Work was only TESTING at this stage. Usually/Normally the Blue LED on the dongle blinks about once a second. Lo...

Getting WiFi working - a new problem

I know I have asked abut WiFi and getting it working as a WAP. This problem is confusing to me. This is the link I used to set up the WiFi: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/wireless/access-point.md Though this one also seemed handy: https://wiki.alpinelinux.org/wiki/Raspberry_...

RPI Ethernet port alias question

A while back I asked and was told I can alias the ethernet to have two IP addresses. It works but now I need to do it again and when searching I am getting conflicting results. Some say it can be done, others say it can't. Example: I am at home and am running on FIXED IP addresses. One day I want to...

Re: WMCTRL command help please.

Hi. The "idea" is that have an open (RANDOM) terminal/CLI. By that I mean one I don't want to have to name. The path is also not to be anything specific. It could be Anywhere. I start some task and it is going to take some time. Say: sudo apt update I don't want to have it at the top all that time. ...
