Re: RPI 3 load confusion (and RPI2)

Thanks. Not having a go at you for the reply. That makes sense, but I can't reckon the values from the top command. On TimePi - the RPI2 - I see the column of CPU load and I can see the total makes sense. Looking at the Zero's column, the gauge is showing 100% load, but the column total is way short...

Re: Stuck with getting WAP working again.

Thanks FOTL. However, for me, life isn't as easy. I went there and did what it said. (Remember it is a REMOTE machine and so headless.) After going through the steps I did the final reboot and it has "locked up". I"m guessing at this stage but I think it has booted but hasn't connected the eth0 part...

Stuck with getting WAP working again.

I was running Jessie and one day for no reason I know the WAP stopped working. After a lot of lost effort, I decided to update to Stretch. After that I went looking for links: None of them really specified which version of RPI they were for and I have been told "mixing and matching can lead to a wor...

Stretch NTP setup with Hardware clock.

Hi folks. I know I am probably going to cop it for asking, but it has been a LONG time and last time when I did it, I was using Jessie. Alas a few weeks ago it stopped working. Don't know why. It was, but then after an update, it stopped. So, accepting that, I think it is time to update. I have Stre...

SD card image reading/writing from Ubuntu

Sorry this is a bit off topic, but it is about my RPI and how to read/write images to it. Originally I used a program on windows - discimage32 ? - to read/write the SD card images. I have gone away from that and am using Ubuntu now. I have an OLD RPI (the one with the yellow composite video output) ...

Sorry.

I think I know the reason.

Too many machines on VNC.

I was logged into the wrong machine.

I've been running through the build stuff on the link I posted earlier. Got down to the: make -j4 part. It went off doing things. Here is the last part of what I got: Scanning dependencies of target pch_Generate_opencv_ml [ 20%] Generating precomp.hpp [ 20%] Generating precomp.hpp.gch/opencv_ml_RELE...

Thanks. The link I posted is being processed. About 50% is over my head and it seems to require downloading and compiling/making files. It would be better if all the commands were together, but I'm slowly making my way through it. I am simply blindly following the stuff. There are bits in there whic...

Re: Adding features to the file browser.

No worries.

I wasn't meaning I wanted to go in "all guns blazing" and hack the program.

But I was told (don't shoot the messenger) that the menus are text files and can be edited.

Beyond my skill set at this time though.

Adding features to the file browser.

The default file browser is nice, but I would like to learn/know if it is possible (though I am told just about ANYTHING is possible with the O/S) to add extra options in the Right Mouse Button menu. Although there is a "MakeDir" option, this falls way short of useful when you are dealing with sorti...

Python face recognition. I'm missing something.

Hi folks. I have a Pi Z with camera and was wanting to play with face recognition. Initial efforts required massive storage of pictures with faces and no faces. Re: R Pi Z(W) how to connect (switch) between two WiFi points.

Ok, I've been looking at it more - and so been offline for a while. It doesn't seem as simple as I explained. (When ever is it?) I have my main "router/modem" and it is the main WAP. I have a RPI2 as the other WAP. I got the switching working I thought, but maybe it is...... I was trying to test it/...

Well, great news! That seems to work. Bad news - but not from your advise: The WAP is now being problematic. I can connect to is with other devices. Wipe their known connection (on them) and reconnect with the password. Seems a new "Yak to shave" has arisen. But thank you very much (all) who helped ...

Re: R Pi Z(W) how to connect (switch) between two WiFi points.

Ah! Thanks. (Back story) I am doing this way because I have two WiFi networks. One is the Main, and the other is another network. (Ok, sorry, not well explained.) But the Main network is where I edit the machine. On the other network, it is not accessible and will just "work" there. I don't want it ...
