Re: RPI 3 wifi setup - not understanding what is going on.

Just before I post that, here's a kicker: Did what you said, thanks "active". (Checked files on other WAP. Same - if you know what I mean) Strange. Ran the sudo /usr/sbin/hostapd /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf again and wifi becomes visible. This is the file: cat /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf interface=wlan0...

Re: RPI 3 wifi setup - not understanding what is going on.

Strech and is up to date.

Did all the updates today as a matter of trying to "fix" the problem.

Shall look at and read the link.

Both show active.

RPI 3 wifi setup - not understanding what is going on.

Hi folks. A while back I went through the motions of setting up a RPI WAP. It works/ed. Today I was doing it a gain on another RPI. This time a RPI 3 with built in wifi. I went through the motions and it isn't working. This is the walk through I am using: https://frillip.com/using-your-raspberry-pi-...

Re: Problems compiling code. QT stufff

Thanks much.

I shall have to start asking there.

Reading their last solution it now gives a new weirder error.

I'll take it up there.

Thanks though and sorry I didn't go there at the start.

I wasn't sure if it was a RasPi problem, compiler problem or what.

Appreciated.

Re: Problems compiling code. QT stufff

Thanks looking into it now. Got and installed qt5-default. Seems to have moved me forward one square. Now I'm getting this error: ( test -e Makefile.daemon || /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/qt5/bin/qmake /home/pi/Downloads/moolticute-master/daemon.pro -o Makefile.daemon ) && make -f Makefile.daemon Pr...

Problems compiling code. QT stufff

I am trying to be brief as possible but not so brief, no help will be possible. Back in about April this year I downloaded QT5 for the RPI. At that time I was running Jessie. It downloaded and I compiled it. Then, with it compiled, I then compiled some source and the program worked/was compiled. Ala...

Re: Webcam

My turn to ask..... I have a HQ USB camea and thought I would try this. I don't have the "camera control" tab as shown on yours KLL. (See attached) And just while I am at it: Is this a thing I could use for real time video watching of the camera - rather than setting up motion? Not that I am being s...

Re: All these names..... Jessie v Strech.

Yeah, ok.

But as I had mentioned how to read/write RPI images (implied from a RPI) when you mentioned that, I took it as read that it was for the ARM.

No big.

My bad.

Re: All these names..... Jessie v Strech.

Thanks Fruit of the loom. I think my "problem" is that I didn't register that Jessie is now outdated and Strech is the new version. At least with the mobile phones, they use the alphabet to indicate which version it is up to. Thanks too on the link for the other program to copy images. Shall look in...

Wifi networks and passwords.

I understand that a good password is a good idea to have/use and make them all different. But unlike my mobile phone I haven't worked out if there is a way on the RPI so it remembers which wifi networks have their passwords already "stored". I am setting one up on wifi and for now it is on "network ...

Yeah, but I am not sure you really answered my question. It kind of became a "SELL SELL SELL" post/thread. Though I didn't say how many "neopixels" (aka WS2812) I was going to use........ On the HARDWARE side f things (irrespective of which pin I use, or which library I have installed): will the 741...

All these names..... Jessie v Strech.

Quick back story. A couple of weeks back I bought a Rpz W. I found a Jessie image and installed it. It works. All good. A while after that I bought another Z W. Alas the first ones SD card is 64g and this one is getting a 32g. So I cant copy the image. So I powered up the old m$ machine and flashed ...

Re: Cant max or min window, missing button

Sorry I am not going to really help, but did you say this was a new build from a noobs image kind of thing? Reading that there is no window manager, and LXDE is the default, it would seem there is a problem there - maybe. I would seriously suggest looking up how to do a proper refresh with the apt-g...

Re: nfs Trouble: Connection refused

Yes, I know this is a bit old now, but a "new" question has come up. The sharing part works fine. I set up the "exports" file and I can see the other PI's files. This is in the supplied Public folder. What I'm now wanting to do is have READ ONLY access to /home/pi/Music/ on a machine. I create the e...

Output to hardware from RPI

This is my first real attempt at control anything REAL from a RPI. I have two things I want to connect: - a 5v fan - Neopixel LED/s Though the fan can be put straight across the 5v, I'm wanting to be a bit creative. Control the fan so it only comes on when needed / it is too hot. The Neopixel LED/s,...

Re: /etc/hosts not worknig on all enteries

(How embarrasing)

Seems the "r" key is not working as good as I would like it to.

I have noticed a few times recently that there are spelling mistakes happening and usually with the letter R.

/etc/hosts not worknig on all enteries

I have tried to research this problem but the replies I found were way beyond my level of understanding. https://serverfault.com/questions/498500/why-does-the-host-command-not-resolve-entries-in-etc-hosts Basically, I have my /etc/hosts file with the IP address and name of the machine. Re: nfs Trouble: Connection refused

Thanks very much. (Very very very) So, now indulge me this dumb question: "out of the box" Jessie and "file sharing". I have a a few Pies. and want to copy files between them. For a long time I have had to use the USB network to copy the files. Rather annoying sometimes. There are posts about "Shari...

Re: nfs Trouble: Connection refused

Ok, I'm stuck too.

Reading this thread, I'd like to ask:

Where does this "nfs-kernel-server" fit in to things?

Is it part of Jessie in a standard build or does it need to be installed?
