Re: Ethernet not working?

Sorry - I found the source problem! The setting on the upstairs unit was incorrect, and turning it on correctly works fine.

Thanks anyway - and sorry for getting the name wrong (that's what I thought I saw on the website of the extender thingy).

Thanks.

Re: Ethernet not working?

Um, I kind of hoped that using a wireless extender would be the same as plugging it into the router. It's pretty much the same. (By wireless extender I mean a unit that is plugged into the router upstairs, and sends the wireless signal downstairs through the mains, which is then collected by a secon...

(Solved) Ethernet not working?

Hi - I have just tried to use an Ethernet cable with my pi, and it does not seem to know that it is there. The internet seems to still not work, still coming up with the same error page. It may be that I am using a wireless extender, but at the moment I am hoping that it is something else (and easy ...

Anyone got the Tenda 11N Wireless USB Adapter W311U to work?

Hello - has anyone got the Tenda W311U USB adaptor to work? I saw it on the ModMyPi site a while ago, but it's not there any more - I hope they haven't suddenly found that it doesn't work? The main problem seems to be that the software needed to run the adaptor's settings set-up is one a CD, which I...

Re: What's the root password?

Great - it worked! (Though I had to run the 'cat /etc/shadow/ ..." bit using sudo.)

Thanks! ;)

What's the root password?

Hello! I just got my RPi yesterday evening, and everything is working fine. :D

However, when I try anything root based in the GUI it asks for a password - and I don't know what it is (I don't think 'raspberry' works).

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Re: Where can you get 'bootable' SD cards?

Oh... right.  Sorry.  I think that should be made just abit more clear in wiki for beginners, even if it is just a sentence saying 'Your SD card will become bootable when you upload the image on to it.'

Thanks for that.

Re: Where can you get 'bootable' SD cards?

I am really struggling to find any bootable SD cards.  I am going to a specialist (in computers, not SD cards!) shop next weekend, but just in case the do not have any,can someone please give a link to a reliable seller online?

Thanks.

Re: Can you download all of the images on to one SD card?

<t>From what I have read, it appears that it is possible to download all of the images on the downloads page on to one SD card, and somehow select which one you wish to use on start-up - is that correct?  Could you then (easily!) switch between the images?<br/> <br/> Also, will they all fit on to an...
