Sorry Dougie, but I am afraid she did!

The quote I included in my post was a direct copy from an email she sent me... they (her & Eben) are are obviously spending far too much time in America! ;)

Re: Openelec installs but fails to boot correctly

For anyone who may not be aware, a new stable release of OpenELEC, Version 5.0.2 was released today. Some users were reporting network problems which have hopefully been cured in this latest update. Builds specific to both models of the Raspberry Pi can be found by following the link in the above po...

Re: Foundation Wi-Fi Adapter

To answer the question posted in the first post, yes, this is a completely new product to be launched by the Foundation, and to quote Liz Upton, (with her permission) "Yes, it’ll be productised. We’re expecting them to go on sale in the next couple of months." As mentioned earlier, it is indeed the ...

Re: Foundation Wi-Fi Adapter

I have just received my magazine this morning, which does indeed contain a 10 page feature, followed by a 2 page review on the new Raspi 2. Considering this was only announced a week ago, they are to be congratulated in getting all this information into print so quickly, although I am sure a lot of ...

Re: Case for Raspberry Pi 2 Model B?

So I have received my Pi 2, but I need a case :) .... What cases are confirmed to be OK for the Pi 2? - Specifically one in the UK, under £10 and with enough clearance to allow the fitting of a Pi Hut heat-sink on the processor, availability on Amazon also a plus. Hi, To answer your question, one c...

Adobe wants to kill flash flash will not run on a Pi2 forget flash why do you want flash ? Thanks to both of you for your replies. I did not however intend to give the impression that I was against updates... in fact I am all for them, and certainly do not have a problem with them! It was just that there were a lot more than I expected to see, particular those which appeared to be updatin...

New update to Raspbian/Debian?

Hi, I will apologise in advance if this has been mentioned already, but I will proceed anyway! It is about a week now since I last ran "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade" on my new Raspberry Pi B+ but on entering it again this morning, I was quite surprised by the number of updates! Althou...

Re: Cubieboard vs RaspberryPi B

Hi, Although the majority of the posts in this thread are now well over 12 months old, I see that there has been one recent one! Although the first Cubieboard used the Allwinner A10 processor, its successor, the Cubieboard2 comes with a dual-core Cortex A20 chip (an ARMv7 platform) boasting dual Mal...

Does anyone knows a free version of Raspberry Pi User Guide, 2th Edition in pdf? Thanks in advance. Liz did say earlier today that it will be available in several different eBook formats, but didn't give any links. I will be very surprised if it is 'free' though, and can't really see any reason why...

Re: Availability of Raspberry Pi V2.0

Although Farnell (U.K.) did start to ship Version 2.0 boards it seems as if they then went back to the 'old' ones again.

Perhaps someone found a box of them tucked away in a corner, or something! :)

Mine arrived yesterday also. I haven't really had a chance to look through it in detail yet, but my first impressions were that it looked a bit 'dull'! Will: see the first post in the thread, which I modified to make it clearer that the fastest way to update just the firmware is "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install raspberrypi* raspi-config" Does this then eliminate the need to "sudo apt-get upgrade"? (Sorry if that's a silly question, but...

Re: Can pressure applied during bad delivery affect quality

Thanks for your reply James, but an easier, and cheaper solution might just be to wrap a couple of layers of 'bubble-wrap' around the box, to help "cushion the blows", as it were!

Quite a few component 'etailers' do this, and it certainly does seem to help.

Re: Can pressure applied during bad delivery affect quality

The OP is not the first person to experience a similar problem, and I would be willing to bet that his order came from Farnell/Element14 rather than from RS Supplies. Whereas RS send out their orders in fairly strong small cardboard boxes, Farnell just use a smaller box, made of very thin cardboard,...

Assuming you are in the UK (and probably even if you aren't) Farnell are currently shipping new orders within a couple of days or so, so you should certainly have received yours by now.

Have you tried to contact them at all?

Re: Rev2 boards are here!

I think it might have been better if both distributors had given the Revision 2 boards a different SKU (or 'part') number, so that customers who specifically needed one of the new ones could specify this at the time of ordering, but If they didn't do so, then the 'older' ones could still be shipped ...
