Re: Parsec and Pi4

It seems that people on the parsec discord are saying that work on the pi 4 client is unlikely for now, even though their misleading message on the website says it will be prioritized. "Parsec for Teams" the priority atm. And a developer told me to buy a pi 3 in there today. https://imgur....

Re: Parsec and Pi4

annnnd... still no new developments it seems. I wish they wouldn't be so cagey. They could tell us work has started at least, if it has. In the meantime, I found a pretty good solution. I run an AMD card, which of course can't use moonlight, but now there is a solution to let AMD cards use moonlight...

Re: STICKY: PINN - An enhanced version of NOOBS.

If 'sudo reboot 8' just boots into PINN, then it won't work on your pi4. The partition numbers you want will be the first ones in each list, so typically 6,8,10 etc. One of the other methods might be better for you. Thanks. I'll set the sticky as it will be the most convenient most of the time. I a...

Re: STICKY: PINN - An enhanced version of NOOBS.

Hey procount. I'm trying your suggestions on rebooting my pi4 into the other OS's via the methods you listed. I wanted to try the reboot n method, since that would be simplest for me (no need to get libreelec to automount, for one). I looked at installed_os.json, and it's not clear to me the numberi...

Re: STICKY: PINN - An enhanced version of NOOBS.

1. The first thing to try is just `sudo reboot n`, but replace 'n' with the boot partition number of the OS you want to boot (see /settings/installed_os.json for the partition numbers to use). This may not work on a Pi4. 2. If you nearly always use LibreELEC and only occasionally use Raspberry Pi O...

Re: STICKY: PINN - An enhanced version of NOOBS.

Most commonly I'm rebooting "back" to the usual OS (libreelec) from raspberry pi OS, and I want to walk away while that's happening (have to keep the screen on though to make sure the video works properly...). Anyways, I'm just wondering if I can affect which OS it will default to on the n...

raspbian system logs length and/or history of docker container restarts

I don't know very much about how linux logging works. The problem I'm having is (suspected) flapping up-down-up-down of a docker container but that only happens after long periods; eg once a month. My raspbian system right now shows an uptime of 34 days. Yet querying docker like this: docker system ...

Re: Parsec and Pi4

I want this so much. Parsec is such a great solution. Just found this on the parsec website: (damn you can't paste in graphics). OK. They added a banner (dec 9 2020) saying they would prioritize development for pi4 as soon as they read the documentation. https://support.parsec.app/hc/en-us/articles/...

Re: Pi 4(s) suddenly unable to display with AVR

I had failed to finish swapping out the HDMI cable, because the other I had was too stiff and I didn't like the amount of pressure it was putting on the piddly pi4 port: so I decided that the pi2b working on that cable was proof enough. However, the solve in the end was that the cable was degrading,...

Pi 4(s) suddenly unable to display with AVR

Hi folks My pi4 have been playing nicely for quite a long time with my AVR. Lately, it would act a little like there was a loose cable, where picking it up and moving it or orienting it would reset the display back to working. This wasn't a big deal, I just hadn't gotten around to looking at it. Fas...

Re: STICKY: PINN - An enhanced version of NOOBS.

Hi. I just got a RPI 8gb, can I take a previously installed pi 4 SD card with PINN on it and just stick it into my new 8gb pi? Reason I ask is I did have just a minute to try it and I got a "this is too old s/w" error but Im not sure if it was raspbian or PINN that was complaining and then...

card stuck wrong state, busy_detect 0xf00 did my SD card go bad? Is this recoverable?

My rpi4 which runs all manner of services and has a butt load of configuration and images on it (but all the data is on hard drives..) suddenly stopped being accessible. When I booted it to a monitor, I see "card stuck in wrong state! card_busy_detect status 0xf00 mmcblk0: recovery failed and s...

Re: What kind of power supply to this USB 3 hub?

Thanks for weighing in gents. Ali doesn't seem to sell that model # with a PS that I found. I did find this power adapter that I think fits the spec. I didn't try powering this up just in case :) It does fit, but as you can see in the picture it sticks out a bit. Is this good enough? I'm not sure I ...

What kind of power supply to this USB 3 hub?

Hi, I bought this USB 3 hub, but unpowered, connecting it to 3 USB hard drives that are powered themselves drains too much power from my PI and things don't work quite right. I'd like to buy an AC adapter (or use one that I have kicking around) but I don't want to blow up my stuff. The voltage is no...

pi4 game streaming, steamlink, parsec

Hey folks I got a little extra time on my hands and I like to stream to my TV sometimes. I bought a pi4 thinking it'd work well but unfortunately they don't. Steamlink is a great proof of concept on the pi4, but overall the current performance isn't good enough. It hitches, drops the sound out every...

The webapp link is not dead. http://pinn.mjh.nz If you are just resizing (and not adding it deleting OSes) then you could do it with gparted. Ohh thank you. That should do me for now between those two things. Btw, yes the link you posted here is broken, but thanks for the new one https://imgur.com/...

So, I formatted and reinstalled my now 3 partitions. Great! This time I left spaces with the uhm spacer items you provide. Fast forw...

Re: HOT Raspberry Pi 4 - 4GB

I wasn't particularly impressed with the Pi4 Flirc case, but I must admit that it does work. Probably not as well as it could and in hindsight I could have bought a much better cooling solution for less money. I'd still recommend it, but indeed its poorly made and designed. sharing a bluetooth keyboard, without tearing hair out?

Hey folks So, as some of you might, I have several devices in the living room. Up until lately, I had kind of a mess of wireless mini keyboards and remotes that take each their own dongles. I got a little sick of that, so I thought maybe I can get everything to use a little bluetooth keyboard I have...
