Hey, there's still hope for your delivery date then?!

Nah, I don't think so. I really can't imagine farnell getting my delivery date exactly right, one and a half months ago, when they didn't know about all the problems the Pi was yet to run into.

On the country selection page, look at the top right. There, it says "Farnell Export". Click it and continue (you probably need to login now).

<t>Well, the thing is… People are reporting estimated delivery dates in august right now, so I'd say order at least one unit now so you can experiment a little yourself. My god... They'll never get all of that shipped.

I guess farnell figures would be about the same. So... Almost half a million RPis sold. Good job.

Re: Regulated 5 VDC power supply from AA or other batteries

700mA is quite a lot of current for a few AA batteries. The Pi won't really last that long on a few AA cells.

Re: Micro USB cable warning.

That is the reason that I can't believe that his cable has 5 ohms of resistance. I mean... Standard USB 500mA would give you a 2.5V drop already. That's totally unacceptable.

Is that cable made of wet rope or something like that?

Re: Micro USB cable warning.

Uhm, "device cables"? I think you mean wallwarts, or something like that.

You can use 1 and 2 (preferably 2). Number 3 sounds a bit weird (voltage is too high for the Pi anyway). Sounds like number 3 has no voltage regulation built in.

Yes, I'd like to know that too. Can you put up a chart with the resistance of the cables you've tested?

I really can't imagine a 1m cable or something like that, having a resistance of 5 ohms...

Re: Acceptable input voltages for power?

<t>You can TOTALLY forget powering the Pi from 7.4 volts. Don't even try. The input voltage must be between 4.75 and 5.25 volt IIRC. You can use a boostconvertor, but make sure it can output at least 1A for the Pi and perhaps anything else you decide to hook up (I know they keep telling us 700mA is ...

Oh come on, phpBB is fine. It's not getting hacked that often, that's just nonsense. Just get the latest version and it'll work fine. And besides, we don't really need VBulletin over here, I think.

Mine is on backorder too, but didn't you get a whole bunch of emails from farnell? One of them should contain a PDF file with an estimated delivery date.
