Re: can I network share sql database on pi to windows users?

This is actually very straight forward. You have to edit the mysql config file my.cnf or whatever it is and make mysql listen on an interface/address it only listens on the local loopback by default. Then you just need to create user accounts in mysql. I usually do the users through mysql workbench ...

Edis free Colo 1 year on...

About this time last year I brought a brand new model b v2 and a 128gb USB flash drive. I did this with the sole intention of hosting it somewhere as a btsync or owncloud node. EDI's were offering free Colo at the time so I applied and was lucky to get an account and shipped my pi off to Austria. Af...

Re: RPi.GPIO Wiegand capture speed?

The company I work for sells/ installs access control and the software we buy thousands of access controllers each year. There are some important considerations though. The reader power beads to be 12v you need a logic level shifter for the wiegand pins. All inputs need to be fused/protected in some...

Re: RPi.GPIO Wiegand capture speed?

I made my own using a humble pi. I started designing one in Fritzing but never completely finished it.

I planned to make a cloud based access control system. The software is the easy part though.

Re: USB RFID door alarm system help with code needed

Don't think so. They all work using the wiegand protocol. I'd have to look at the data sheets to be sure. We use the SE as standard now as it is the 'current' model but really its just the same as the old r10 just with more hidden features and LED wires that we never use.

Re: USB RFID door alarm system help with code needed

I use HID iClass r10/r40 we get them for around £30 -40 direct from HID (we are a partner). I have actually made a time clock from a raspberry pi previously. I used a mifare reader at the time but iClass works exactly the same. I also added a character display and a keypad and an RTC.

Re: Where do you start to create logic like a Roomba

I have seen a cheap room a clone perform admirably and all it seem to do was something along the lines of. Go forwards until bumb Turn x degrees Turn forward until bumb Ad infinitum Its slight bit more complex but you could easily start there. It had 3 bumb switches on the front middle, right and le...

Re: RFID Programming

I just use standard wiegand interface readers they have 2 data lines you connect to 2 gpio's. When both are high (5v) its idle. When data0 (usually green wire) goes low it's a 0 when data1 (usually white) goes low its a 1. I wrote c Program that attaches interrupts to the pins then builds an array o...

Taping flight of the navigator is a bit different to downloading the DVD screener of an unreleased movie or the latest season of game of thrones when they don't even subscribe to the channel that originally airs it. The people I known are not sharing things they own a copyright too just movies they ...

Re: Land your RasPI in a datacenter for free

I can now confirm my pi is online. I did think it might be worth sharing my image so then all someone has to do is change the IP and password and they are ready to go. My image has had all the gui elements removed. The memory split is at maximum. Overclocked to 900mhz. Fully updated. Webmin installe...

Re: RPi.GPIO Wiegand capture speed?

I just use a voltage divider to drop the Wiegand output to 2.5v. Its funny you should say that I have been trying to design a pub in fritzing with a reader interface an output relay and an rtc. It's hard work. I have never designed a pcb like this before. I originally started with 2 reader inputs an...

Re: Land your RasPI in a datacenter for free

I'd be more than happy to buy a couple of pis with 16gb USB sticks image them ship them to edis then sell them to someone who is a bit further away than me (ie the usa/Canada etc). Then I would agree to buy them back and a slightly reduced price (as if postage was paid to edis) And then sell them on...
