Re: Welcoming to new members

The raspi one has horrible layout problems on this phone (MotoG, Android 5, Chrome, 720x1280) also, but does at least have sensible sized text. Still that going off topic. Well sort of, of the forum does alter ones ability to find and actually find things quickly. Like formatting text, finding searc...

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I originally did try unzipping the files to the computer. It was after that repeatedly did not work that I tried unzipping to the SD card. I just figured it was worth a shot. .... Get this part sorted, this is where I would say it was going wrong. Try the 'Lite...

Yes, but a new users brought up on facebook et al, does not know the complications of a forum. I know how to use forums after setting some up, administering and moderating through the years. Re: RPi 4 and USB3 and Gbit ?

Why do these questions keep occurring? I mean, I just bought a Lamborghini Aventador for 30 bucks that does 217mph. When is Lamborghini going to make an Aventador 2 that does 400mph? Oh, and by the way I want it to carry 50 people whilst doing so. Because people like to know and speculate and chat....

Way beyond me,but I remember a mention to something like this in 3.2 of the API docs https://picamera.readthedocs.io/en/rele ... ipes1.html
Is it similar to that?

I use various USB charging batteries Which are just Cell/Battery with it output adjusted to 5V output. I've found the Amazon ones are pretty good. Current use the longer narrower 3Ah one and the 10Ah one with two outputs one being 2A and has level indicator and a power button which is useful. They d...

Re: Serial communication Tx/Rx

Is it not serial0 now, especially if using the Pi3?
Would the Bluetooth deny access to ttyAMA0 ?

Of course it could be the other Pi's?

I never had to alter any groups (but I am 'pi') to get serial working.

Having a read now :-)

OK other than having to search for what a wart is (other than something on the skin)
I see it's a PSU/ Plug adaptor.

Re: using pin 2/4 to supply 5v Pi Zero specifically

You haven't actually mentioned how you plan to power the Pi or the servos. We (at least I) am guessing at what you are planning to do. I guessed powering the servos from the gpio header pins hence tapping in the pads as an alternative to splicing/spkitting the cable if the power gpio pins cannot pr...

Re: Sense HAT - free GPIO pins

Yes you can A simple method, that I've been using since it came out, us to pull/prize the big black connector block out and change it for a long pin variant, this then gives you all the pins sticking out the top of the hat and can mount it direct to the Pi. Or use the method in the 'car' above https...

Re: using pin 2/4 to supply 5v Pi Zero specifically

Are the pads still present on the Pi Zero like they are on the A+ ? So you could just solder to the pads near the USB power connector?
Some are before and some after the fuse iirc. I use them on the A+ to power it before the fuse.

Re: Unable get LED to turn on

At least you have the cathode going to ground; but you're kinda missing the point of a bread-board, aren't you? Are you sure your solder connections are good at the LED, and that you didn't overheat the LED when you soldered it? Please post your code, and use a code block... code button at the top ...

Re: Unable get LED to turn on

My hint would be to test the resistor/led wiring works, place the #25 and put it in the 3V3 bit, it should light up when the Pi is on.
Once you know it works, then it's either code or the raspian setup.

I'm just thinking, I don't think my phones, tablets etc are tha much faster. It has to scan, see it, have a chat and then configure the link. Maybe assign IP address first? Is it possibly to use an agressive scanning option ? Time you relauch of the Wi-Fi perfectly to the AP making it a live connect...

Picamera for python has a command Ahem https://github.com/waveform80/picamera/issues/265 and you can put it in the config.txt boot file if it's just to turn it off. Which is hardly controlling it. I'm assuming the OP wants more than just "disable_camera_led=1" I guess i've not noticed it on my Pi3,...

Re: Raspberry Pi - camera, reducing power consumption

To save power you turn it off when no in use in the programming, though you'll have a short delay when turning it back on.

Have you thought about locating the pi nearer the camera, if space is a problem then maybe the Zero could be used. They have a similar power usage.
