Re: Forget a Wifi Network and Ethernet

There are no servers involved w.r.t saving data unless you wish to class GIT or OneDrive etc as such, the open Wi-Fi's are all seperated from the internal, even the passworded Wi-Fi are seperated from each other, but all still go through a netnanny(etc.) not controlled directly by us. Things like th...

Re: Forget a Wifi Network and Ethernet

You could set up an isolated network in the classroom for the Pi computers. I'm not aware of any ransomeware that works on Linux (and certainly not on Raspbian). Lock the network down to the MAC addresses of the Pi computers only, so if the kids try and use any keys they manage to find on the SD ca...

Re: Number Data Logger

You are looking at around 2000Ah @5V for a 6month setup (that is probably more than needed and based on my A+ with Wi-Fi, GPS and SenseHat logging and a camera as the max usage) and 1000-1500Ah may be doable, but even standby or 'off' will need around 500Ah First solve that problem (plug it in to ma...

Re: Attaching Weight scale or Force resistive sensor to PI

thanks for bringing this up, I have quite a few RS232 capable scales I can use in various ranges and also USB scales, which to be honest are mainly just RS232 convertors they tag on since RS232 is the standard they have always used.

Another project to add to the list

Does it write as it downloads (preferred) or do you download and then write?

Either way i'll check it out, I have various devices with various restrictions on external/internal SD cards to test with.

For some reason I didn't see the links and the two posts after that :? I see there is the nano GPS and also smaller ublox8 if you search as well. Personally I would start with a cheap ublox6 or similar. (4 to 8 quid on eBay) and get the programming and everything going. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ubl...

Re: How to access GPIO when using senseHAT?

The hat is just stacked on riser thingy with pointy bits (OK so mind has gone blank to proper name) Pull it all off (be careful, they can be quite tight and the hat can twist and you may dislodge the solder at the end, easy fix to just warm up and get it back) after that changing is easy. You then n...

Some smartphone are as small as a pi and have GPS, could use one of them? But the normal ublox6 are not large and can just wire direct into the gpio ports on say a zero, they are wider than a zero but less than it lenght? How small do you need to go and what's the usage (I'm just interested) Edit Mr...

But if the guides on the this website reference sudo, do they not need admin rights. There is nothing on the site, that I have found, that demonstrates to teachers, techs and club users on how to lock down the Raspian system? It's NOOBs installed Raspian that is/will be used. Re: How to get the Rpi IP when the router changes often?

I have no idea, I've not tried to name the Pi other than in raspi-config. But on android I use Fing to scan through the network and it's easy to pick the Pi's out and then scan ports and launch day from there. But it's not going to help you for universal appeal. How do the two Raspixxx RaspiCam and ...

Re: Forget a Wifi Network and Ethernet

the problem there is many tutorials for children (education) rely on Pi/Raspberry to be there and the sudo command to be open for use.
A simple obfuscated text file would solve that, well until the learn more and can then read it, but at least that's a sort of win for education ;-)

Just to add is there actually a way or gui alternative that allows quick forgetting.
I ask as its a security risk as the setting file as above, is not obfuscated/encrypted in some way. So in our school if anyone takes one home or connects to the none open network, then all keys are easily available.

Use Gedit for editing files on the desktop. But you can use nano in a terminal window with no problems at lea...

So I tested the yellow cable and it still isn't working on the raspberry pi. I also tested it with a both the new and old cable on one of my friends pi's and with the older cable it worked just fine on his pi. I think it's on the connecting port on the actual pi, but everything seems fine? Is there...
