Re: Raspbian Lite questions

. My short term solution, until I get a better handle on the CLI and Bash shell scripting, is to install the full Raspbian," sudo apt-get remove --purge" all of the educational programs and games, This approach reminds me of a mechanic, popping the hood, and revving the engine from the other side o...

Re: Multiroom audio with one Raspberry Pi

Hi Celdri

My suggestion would be that you look at Logitech Media Server.

Re: Sonos Speaker

Maybe also consider Logitech Media Server. https://forums.slimdevices.com/forum.php There are a variety of dac hats similar to this one http://iqaudio.co.uk/hats/9-pi-digiamp-0712411999650.html There are cheaper options from other manufacturers and also it is possible to use the pi Zero.... Lots of ...

Re: Unable to clone SD card (Mac)

@Bob Smith

when you have made your copy have a look at "pishrink".

I run it on a rpi3b+ with Stretch desktop (although I do use it in headless mode most of the time).

It is really simple to use (there are tutorials on't web) and it really does reduce the file size.

Hope this is helpful

Re: Audio recording

Ken Here is an example of a SPDIF hat for the pi (I have the previous version). http://iqaudio.co.uk/hats/48-pi-digi.html It would give you an Optical and Co-ax output to use. Depending on how you are using your rpi 3B, you would be able to install LogitechMediaServer and playback BBC iPlayer Radio ...

Re: Audio recording

@Wizzabeck Ken, The OMXPlayer (so I learned) comes in the full Raspbian-Stretch of 2018-03-13. From the suggestion by tvjon I tried it with an rpi3B running Raspbian Stretch-Lite, but it is not installed. So, in a Terminal sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install omxplayer. Then download the file k...

Re: Audio recording

@Wizzabeck Ken, There used to be this hat for a pi https://www.element14.com/community/community/raspberry-pi/raspberry-pi-accessories/cirrus_logic_audio_card you might be able to find one second hand, the driver is now, apparently, included in Raspbian. As another listening only device, you might w...

Re: Spotify on the pi

I understand that the spotify app is not supported for the pi and there are several mediocre solutions/alternatives. So my conclusion is that spotify on rpi is just... not finished yet. I already had spotify as a plugin for kodi. Though it works, the UI is... meh. And I wanted spotify more as a sta...

Re: Spotify on the pi

@bask 185 Spotify has implemented its long ago announced intention to stop using libspotify. This has meant that a lot of spotify devices no longer work. https://support.spotify.com/us/listen_everywhere/on_speaker/why-cant-i-use-the-spotify-app-on-my-speaker/ I use a rpi3b with a Squeezelite player ...

Re: Analogue audio testing

Just to update: this evening i did a fresh install of Jessie-lite, used Squeezelite as a player. I could not get a continuous playback streaming BBC R6 until I installed both force_turbo=1 audio_pwm_mode=2 Changing mmap from 0 to 1 resulted in 0 being preferred (both allowed music but 1 had a slight...

Ah well!, You see Clive, I just copied that line from a poster on another thread. The original OP claimed not to know what mmap is, and I have to say, that I have only just found out after reading your post (still have no understanding, as all this computering is too "new age" for me :) ). When I ge...

Re: Analogue audio testing

Well, it's all a bit of a Curate's Egg (and not chocolate). Streaming BBC6 was fine and changing to BBC2 was OK, but Spotify was broken up and then the sound stopped. Returned to BBC6 and no sound, but restarting Squeezelite produced music, Radio Paradise was broken up sound and a couple of channel ...

Re: New Complete Web-Based SqueezePlug Version Available

Have you uprated the usb power on the pi?. SSH into the pi, at the command line type, echo max_usb_current=1 >> /boot/config.txt press enter, reboot the pi and your done. you need a good power supply, at least 2.5amps at 5volt (some good ones are a little over the 5volt) http://www.modmypi.com/raspb...
