I agree that I2C is not a beginners subject but I think the BCM2835 hardware couldn't make it easier as it automatically does things that usually have to be programmed in.

X1366 Y768 do not sound like standard resolution modes - maybe that is why Riscos defaults back to the original setting.

I never got that problem with Raspbian, but I do get it from time to time with RISCOS.
