Re: Can I hide a tkinter Frame

Thanks for that Paddy. I think you are right - I need to put a few widgets to give grid() something to work on.
Thanks for the link but I think I have enough learning to do for now. I am still getting to grips with Python and tkinter.

Re: Can I hide a tkinter Frame

can you pack() the widget to fill the frame and use pack_forget() to take the alternate one out? I thought I had tried that but I had pack and grid mixed up. I can now get the paging to work but the buttons are stuck in the top left of the main window client area. I would like them to be at the bot...

Can I hide a tkinter Frame

What I have in mind is a Tk based object which has two frames. Each frame has its own widgets. Each frame completely fills the main window but I can control which one is visible. This may mean putting one on top of the other or making one of the two invisble. It sounds simple but I cannot make it wo...

Re: button_ wait and the reset

It is possible to create a class based on Button that becomes disabled for a while after it is pressed. This is one way to do it. import tkinter as tk import tkinter.ttk as ttk class Sticky(ttk.Button): def __init__(self,parent = None,command = None,text = None): ttk.Button.__init__(self,parent,comm...

Re: Tkinter guage. help for a newbie

It may be possible to run the data generation part of your program as a separate thread. Changed data can be posted to the main thread that mainloop runs in. In this example there are some time delays between the data being generated and displayed but if this is acceptable this approach might work. ...

Re: is Tkinter loaded with RPi2 ?

Pythnon 3 changed Tkinter to tkinter. You might be able to do something like this to get compatibility.

Code: Select all

import sys
if(sys.version_info[0] < 3):
	import Tkinter as tk
else:
	import tkinter as tk

tk.Tk().mainloop()

Re: Sound

Many thanks Dirk

For anyone else who has this problem I typed
sudo usermod -a -G audio roger
to join myself to the audio group.

Then logged out and back in and sound worked

Sound

I am a beginner with Linux
If I log in as pi I get sound from scratch - no problem.
If I log in as Roger (which has sudoer priviledge) I get no sound. amixer seems to have no effect. I suspect I need a config file somewhere but what and where.
