Re: enable the camera module on chromium browser

my bad. this fixed it.

Code: Select all

sudo sed -i -e "\$asnd-bcm2835" /etc/modules
sudo sed -i -e "\$abcm2835-v4l2" /etc/modules
echo "options bcm2835-v4l2 gst_v4l2src_is_broken=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/bcm2835-v4l2.conf
obviously I was not loading the module on startup.

enable the camera module on chromium browser

I have an RPi3 running Raspbian stretch, and the NoIR camera module installed. When running "raspistill -v -o test.jpg" I get a picture, so I know the camera works correctly. Using chromium-browser, I open webcamtoy.com and try to take a picture through the browser. But I get a message saying "Camer...

Re: samba allow write all users

this worked
[Shared]
path = /media
read only = no
guest ok = yes
But now the local users of the pi can't write in the folders created under /media

samba allow write all users

I want to configure samba on my raspberry pi, to create a shared folder writable by everyone. Everyone means, I won't create samba users on Raspbian, and any user from any Windows machine will be able to write in this folder. I tried multiple options in /etc/samba/smb.conf. I can make the shared fol...

shuffling mp3 files with spaces causes problems

I am trying to loop and shuffle the mp3 files in a directory so I can play them randomly and continuously. So I created this script. #!/bin/bash # import variables source "${BASH_SOURCE%/*}/variables" # loop & shuffle while true do for audio in $(ls $localaudiomedia/* | shuf) do echo "playing $audio...

Re: Read-only Jessie

The various web sites that have documented making the PI read only remove a variety of packages. In addition, they end up making the normal place the seed file gets written, read only. Thus the need to create the seed on each boot in some temp space. At least that is how I understand the random-see...

Re: Read-only Jessie

This worked for me, on the random seed issue. ln -s /tmp/random-seed /var/lib/systemd/random-seed sed -i '/RemainAfterExit=yes/ a ExecStartPre=/bin/echo "" >/tmp/random-seed' /lib/systemd/system/systemd-random-seed.service As for the dhcp issue, the problem for me was that resolv.conf was not gettin...

run sudo commands without password only from specific path

I have 30 scripts, running a series of commands, all invoked by root, on Raspbian Jessie. Many of those commands can only be run as root, or by a sudoer. I wanted to do things a bit more securely, and have a sudoer run these scripts, without password prompt. So I added this in /etc/sudoers, and star...

PowerPoint viewer (gui-less?)

I'm looking for a PowerPoint viewer I can run on Raspbian.
Like omxplayer and fbi, I would prefer if this PowerPoint viewer doesn't need X to run.
But if X is required, it would be good if I could run the PowerPoint viewer in matchbox-window-manager, and if it was lightweight.

Suggestions?

Re: killing fbi keeps showing the last image

I just want to have the terminal. There's no way to choose a last image. Its a loop of hundreds of images. Before fbi starts, you only see the terminal login prompt. This is what I want to have after I kill fbi.

killing fbi keeps showing the last image

Hi, I am using "framebuffer image viewer" (fbi) to loop a few images on a TV. The problem is that when I try to stop the images from showing on the TV, by killing the fbi process, the last image always remains on the screen. The rotation stops, and the last image shown, simply remains there. The com...

I need to install a raspberry pi on a public tv monitor, so I want to replace the boot sequence with either a progress bar or a custom logo. It is very important that no boot sequence is shown. I've found a few methods to hide a few stuff, like the rainbow logo, by add logo.nologo to /boot/cmdline.t...

it has come to my attention that "apt-get install midori", installs midori version 0.4

Midori doesn't support multimedia?

I installed midori on the raspberry pi 3 and visited https://html5test.com/. It seems midori doesn't support multimedia and has a very low html5 score.

Is there anything I can do to improve midori multimedia functionality?
Thanks
