Re: Raspberry Pi Zero power consumption

Hi guys, Has anyone tried or can try to mesure the consumption of Pi zero with the raspi camera module? I'm studying how to make the Pi Zero running on battery/solar with Wifi dongle and camera module. http://raspi.tv/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Pi-Zero-1.3-Power-Usage-Chart.png http://raspi.tv/wp-c...

Re: Where is the Raspberry Pi A+?

I ordered a 512 MB A+ as soon as the Farnell link was leaked. Initially it was scheduled to arrive in June. A couple of weeks later I got a notification that it was bumped to July. This week I got a notification that it was bumped to late August. So to answer the OP... I think the A+ is in the "norm...

Re: What's the release schedule?

What is the current release schedule for raspberry pi? The 1st one came out in 2012, 2nd in 2015 and 3rd earlier this year. Is the foundation planning on releasing a new version every year? Actually Eben spoke about this at the Pi3 Launch event. It's on Youtube somewhere. But essentially what he sa...

Saw a tweet about this this morning pointing to an Android Police article.

But they seemed to be extrapolating quite a bit. Will be interesting to see what comes of it :)

RasPiO Analog Zero - 7 day KS

Hi all. Just wanted to alert you to a new board I've launched on KickStarter this morning... http://raspi.tv/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/RasPiO-Analog-Zero-NOT-on-Pi-Zero-cleaned-copy_1500.jpg It's an 8-channel Pi Zero sized analog board you can use with GPIO Zero. Come and have a look. There's still...

Re: Will Camera Be Bundled with Pi Zero Cable?

However, I think a cable to connect a camera to a Zero is a fairly easy bodge with a scalpel, I'm sure there will be a youtube instructional video along in short order to get by until the Chinese get involved at 5 for a quid delivered in 14 to 21 days. If anyone can replicate this with an existing ...

Re: Will Camera Be Bundled with Pi Zero Cable?

I think the OP's issue is that with 2 connection cable types now, there should be a choice as to which cable is supplied with the camera. Why pay extra and have a cable they wont use? £4 after all is another PiZero ;) Texy There is a choice, but it may not be the choice the OP wants (yet). You can ...

Re: Will Camera Be Bundled with Pi Zero Cable?

Ha! Was taking a look at Adafruit and found: https://www.adafruit.com/products/3170 It's a Pi Zero, a Pi Camera, and the new cable all as a package for $40. That's $5 more than the combined list price. They're listing just the cable at $6 and the camera module for $30, so the total price is a smidg...

Re: Will Camera Be Bundled with Pi Zero Cable?

There are two things I expect to happen with respect to the Pi Zero (and,CM, if it comes to that) camera cable... 1. Third parties like Adafruit will have cables made in different lengths. 2. As Pi Zeros become more prevalent, the market will grow for camera cables, more companies will start sellin...

Re: Will Camera Be Bundled with Pi Zero Cable?

I'd think that rather unlikely because the standard cable is a standard item and the Zero cable has been custom made. Hence I expect it is significantly more expensive to produce and is unlikely to be "given away".

Re: Pi Zero unit economics

@curious4872 Looking at your earlier posts reveals what you are really interested in: You want to create and sell a product based on the Pi Zero. For that you need a stable and reliable delivery channel providing you with any number you require. That won't happen for a long time. It's not what the ...

Re: Pi Zero unit economics

5% KS fee is right, but the net amount usually received from KS is roughly 90% of contributions. There is another ~5% transaction fee (which is scandalously high, but that's another story). Also the maximum UK pledge is £5000. But it's all moot anyway because RPi already know there is a market for t...

So in case of Zero It would be nice if RPI Trading would grow up instead ;-) allowing them to ship more Zeros and raising the 1 per customer limit solving all points above. Actually, you might not know this, but I'm pretty sure RPi Trading is the fastest growing computer company of all time. Like a...

If a product retails in the UK for £12, £2 is VAT, the retailer keeps £10 but hey that nasty retailer wants to make £3 on it, so has to buy it for £7 from the wholesaler who also needs a profit, so bought it at £4.50 from the manufacturer who made it at a cost of £3 Yes, that's why you can often ge...

To my mind the HDMI royalty has already been paid as part of the production cost of the Pi Zero and is therefore totally irrelevant.

Re: How to compute voltage?

Never heard of unipi, so no idea what chip is on it. Often, an ADC chip will have a pin for Vref or reference voltage. If you can find out what that's connected to, you know what it's being measured against. So if Vref was connected to 5V, your ADC reading of a 3V3 input should be 3.3/5 * 65535 = 43...
