Re: Raspberry Pi 2 / OSMC & Volumio

Using a pi 2 (only) for a volumio / audio server only seems excessive to me. I do this using an A+ model. But you can also dual boot from one sd-card or switch sd-cards (that is have two OS's on distinct cards), which would then allow you to use only one Pi for both purposes. This last scenario, of ...

Re: Youtube no longer supports Epiphany?

Ok. My bad. I had not seen the above mentioned warning page before, so I thought that it is some change, but it seems the only change was that I was using a new pi 2 and the cookie/login was therefore not set.

Youtube no longer supports Epiphany?

I haven't been using youtube much lately. However, today I visited the site with Epiphany only to have it report to me that the browser is not supported. When did this happen? And what alternative browsers are you people using?

You can also try to enlargen the cache, or set it to cache to the sd instead of ram (in advancedsettings.xml). see ths link http://www.htpcbeginner.com/fix-raspber ... ng-issues/

Re: 3D Printing

Here are some thoughts about 3d-priting if you have never done it. First of all, you shouldn't think that you can leave the printer alone printing. Anything can go wrong, even something as simple as the plastic wire getting entangled and the printer not being able to print because of this. So, while...

Re: Case for Raspberry Pi 2 Model B?

Since http://shop.pimoroni.com/products/pibow-coupe says: Note: We've redesigned Pibow to be compatible with both the Raspberry Pi 2 and B+. Due to changes in the layout of the power circuitry on the Raspberry Pi 2 layer 3 has had to be revised - older Pibows (one's with a B+ label) will not work wi...

Well, then throw away your "wireless modem" and make a router from a pi that can also serve as a NAS.

Re: R-Pi as file storage?

If by "home internet" you mean LAN and you need something like a NAS, then this is easy to do and extremely secure. After all, the device will only be accessible from your own local network (and not from the internet at all). Actually a Raspberry pi for only this purpose seems, for me at least, a bi...

Re: dd not cloning - missing copying a partition?

So my question now is - how can I make a working copy of the 'source' card without using the dd command given the apparent slight size difference between the cards? You can resize a partition on the card (to be smaller) before doing the backup img. AFAIK you can do more efficient clones using utili...

Re: Raspberry Pi A+ USB port bent pins

I received an A+ today, and thanks to this thread I appraoched it carefully and inserted a usb-cord into it a few times before I put in an Edimax. Luckily, I had no bent pins, so that trick might be worth using.

Re: Keep Pi alive

An idea, maybe not the most eloquent: Does it need to be on all the time? Because if not, then you could unplug it automatically once a day at a specific time, for example. Just have a Cron shutdown it down safely before power-off. Plug it into one of those cheap pluggable timers that will cut the p...

Pa...

Re: Questions relating to undervoltage in B+

I finally found the final solution to this. Previously I reported that one sd-card was the culprit. This turned out to be semi-true in the sense that using it caused brownout warnigns constantly. However, while the second card did not, I later noticed that many other cards also did, usually to a les...

Re: Browse and Play Music on Raspi via smartphone

IIRC by default Openelec has the http-server on (if not turn it on from settings). If you update your library you can then simply navigate to the ip address in your smart phone's browser. You will see a page with a remote control, and libraries that you can play. From there you can control the devic...

Re: Portable Stereo System (12v / 5v)

Just a suggestion... have you noticed that hifiberry sells an amp board that can be directly attached to a raspberry pi. It can also power the RPi from a 12v source (perhaps a small form factor battery, or recharchable C-battery pack?)

So, I did this: Moved all the content on the previously mentioned problematic Kingston card to another card (Sandisk). So, this new card now contains the exact same setup. No brownout warnings anymore. This now makes me suspect that there is something physically wrong with that one particular Kingst...
