Re: RetroPie

edtrud,
Take a look at Hackaday site, http://hackaday.com/
you might find some food for thought there.
Do a search for SNES.
I found this on my first search: http://hackaday.com/2013/01/04/turning- ... o-an-snes/
Best of luck to you in your endeavors!

Re: SD card formatting difficulty

swbigelow, First you need to realize that NOOBS, in my opinion, is meant to be an exploratory way for noobs to discover different flavors of linux and other operating systems available for the raspberry pi. Since you and your son seem to be favoring raspbian, I would just go ahead and download and i...

Congrats on finding the problem.
I forgot that you were using Raspbian Jessie.
I quit using Raspbian because of systemd.
Good luck on your future endeavors!

Re: v4l-utils problem

What is the main goal you are trying to accomplish?
Are you having problems cloning the git v4l-utils folder?
Are you compiling v41-utils manually?
What software are you using for your camera?

I can't view your attached screen shots so I am unclear what it is your are asking about.

Re: help? Cannot get rpi to boot to console, only X

I am not familiar with lightdm, but I will try to help you out. Open up a terminal in X and type: sudo ps -A | grep lightdm That should tell you what the pid number is for lightdm Example: 3319 - lightdm I am at work so I don't have access to my linux box so my example probably does not look exactly...

Re: any gentoo users out there?

Hi John, Thanks for the reply, I was beginning to think that there were no "real" gentoo users out there. I am running 3.12.32 kernel here and I have xfce4 as my windows manager. I tried to use distcc here but so far I am having no luck. Can you explain to me how to properly set it up on the pi and ...

Re: No internet access

I am assuming your other devices in your location have internet access? Can you ping google from the command prompt?
$ ping www.google.com
What device are you using to ssh into your pi?

Re: Berryboot won't download OS on Wifi

We need some more info to help you out. Are you downloading image files using your pi or another pc? What OS are you trying to use from within Berryboot? Do you have a current working OS on a SD card? Or are you up the creek without a paddle? lol.

any gentoo users out there?

Hello, This section of the forum is pretty quiet! How many others here are experimenting with Gentoo on the Raspberry Pi? I am interested in hearing from other Gentoo users in our forum. What is everybody up to? I have used Gentoo off and on during the last two years, however in light of the systemd...

Re: Minimal Raspbian build using live-build

Morning Simon, We are tracking on the same thing, lol. I also would like /home, /etc, and any apt-get installs to stick. I like your approach to making the Pi more robust against filesystem corruption. With /etc persistent it will help beef up security for ssh and save some initial typing after boot...

Do you have plans for incorporating persistence in the future?

Re: Minimal Raspbian image without desktop or other add-ons

Hi Robin,
I was trying to do the same and then I discovered piCore.
Go to this web site and check it out:

Good luck on your server.

Re: Minimal Raspbian build using live-build

Hi Simon, Thanks for doing this for the raspberry pi community! I was just wondering where to go next with my distro experiments. Currently I am using piCore for a specific application but I don't know how to compile the kernel to get a specific v4l-dvb module I need. I will test this distro out lat...
