Java IDE?

On my PC, I work with eclipse to program java. But it doesn't seem to work on my Pi (I just have the splash screen from eclipse for 5 minutes, then I close it because that's too long to wait). Now, is there any IDE I can use to program in Java? It should at least be capable of showing syntax errors,...

Re: HDMI cable with Ethernet

That's not a problem.
I will use the built-in ethernet thingy in my Pi for Internet.

Re: Minecraft PC Edition on Pi?

Oh, one question though: Is the normal, pre-installed Minecraft version on the Pi written in Java or python?
If it's java, can you tell me how to get to the source code and edit it?

HDMI cable with Ethernet

Hello all,
I bought a HDMI cable to connect my Pi with a screen. Now I found out it has "Ethernet- and audio feedback channel".
Is that a problem or will that work as good as a cable without that stuff?

Re: Minecraft PC Edition on Pi?

Ok, thank you for your answers.
So I can stop minimizing the PC version now.
And I didn't say I'd share the code, this project is rather private.

Re: Minecraft PC Edition on Pi?

What do you mean with lack of opengl support?
Doesn't it work at all?
And there is an official pi version, why can't I make one with a bit more features then?

Re: Minecraft PC Edition on Pi?

Actually, it works perfectly on my PC.
And I said minimized, that means lots of stuff removed (e.g. all monsters but creepers) and 8x8 textures.

Thank you for your answers.
Now, I hadn't seen your post and have bought the cheaper one. Is that a problem or is that PSU Ok?

Re: Minecraft PC Edition on Pi?

I'm working on a minimized 1.6.4 version. I haven't it tested on the Pi yet,
but maybe it works with startclient.py from the mcp.

Re: Minecraft PC Edition on Pi?

Ok, thank you.
I think I'll just try out if I can start it with the starclient.py file.
Oh, and does raspbian have a built-in text editor? That way, I could edit the code.

Re: Minecraft PC Edition on Pi?

Cool!
One question though: How do I get the code from a minecraft forge src download onto the pi (and edit the code like with eclipse on pc (doesn't need to be eclipse)) and start minecraft? Can I use the startclient.py?

Re: Minecraft PC Edition on Pi?

No, I want to run the client of the PC Edition. Is it code errors, or is it simply that it's to heavy?
If that is it, it's no problem, I will take out all stuff I consider unnecessary (e.g. tall grass) and I will implement 8x8 textures.
What do you think?

Minecraft PC Edition on Pi?

Hello all, I want to make a minimized Minecraft version for the Pi (in Java) which will use the PC Edition as base. Then I would remove everything I don't need, make 8x8 textures and add some stuff from mods. Would that work if I downloaded the Pi Java library? Would I then be able to just put the c...

Avery PLP

Hello all,
I have an Avery PLP (Personal Label Printer) lying around and I want to know if I can use it with my Raspberry Pi (via USB). It would be cool if I could print some stuff with it.

And I think I can use 2 power supplies, one for the Pi and one for the display.
