P.S.:

I'm not dreaming of a Pi 2.0 right now. Rather I'd have a Model C, which would be a Model B.1 with mounting holes and unified pitches.

That's not entirely true. In times of Windows NT there was also a version for DEC Alpha and MIPS CPUs, although the average Joe never noticed.
