Re: External HDD can't mount?

Thanks for the info guys..

Got it up and running and a samba share running of it

I used..

Code: Select all

sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/external
It is an ntfs formatted drive and I did not need to add the flags for the ntfs disk.

So now I need to add this to startup.

What file do i need to edit to do this?

Re: External HDD can't mount?

For now all I have tried to do is use the file manager in Debian to mount it (right click option) I take it I may be better off mounting this in CLI before going into x Like I mentioned above I have limited Linux experience and am lacking any knowledge of how to mount drives via command line. But I ...

FTP server help please

I have followed the guide to get a web server up and running with lighttpd over at elinux.org which is working very nicely indeed.

Does anybody have any info on how to setup an FTP server ontop of this so I can upload files to my /var/www/ folder.

External HDD can't mount?

I have an external HDD and am struggling to get it to mount. The file manager in Debian can see the drive, but it is not mounted and I get the error not authroised when I try to mount it. Is there a way I should format the drive, would ntfs work or does it have to be ext? Any info would be a great h...

Re: My Pi, first impressions and plans

I have switched to an iPad plug and Samsung micro USB cable, everything seems good with that.

I have also updated the firmware as suggested.

I left the same torrent files downloading, and no freezes. So far so good.

Thanks for the suggestions chaps!

Re: My Pi, first impressions and plans

UPDATE: Left it on last night downloading a few larger torrent files (around 5gb) It froze the os a few times. Ethernet light was still blinking, but pi was totally unresponsive. I wonder if it is memory related or if my sd card does not like the constant writing. I've got a 500gb hard drive I can l...

Re: My Pi, first impressions and plans

UPDATE: My pi is now headless.. I've installed transmission but have to launch the X version as I'm not sure how to configure the daemon. But it really is performing well. Utilises around 15-20%cpu max when downloading. I have my pi setup so that I can SSH & VNC into it and have all ports forwarded ...
