wifi support
Hi, thanks for the reply. Openelec now supports these dongles and its supposed to work without inserting stuff in the squashed file system. In fact it does work, its just that it needs to be recompiled against the updated linux version. I managed to force the rebuild by deleting the "build"...

RTL8188cus
Latest builds do not work with e.g. EDIMAX 7811 nano wifi dongle. I reported earlier that it was working at v11797 but stopped sometime after but by about 11816. Trying to load the module manually (modprobe 8192cu results in "exec format error". I noticed that modinfo 8192cu returns: verma...

Hi, I have EDIMAX nano wifi dongle, it uses RTL8188CUS chipset. Release 11785 (at least) supported this wifi out of the box. I recently rebuilt 11840, and dismayed to find it no longer works. Downgraded to 11812 still not working. Went back to 11797 and its OK. So I guess something occurred between ...

Can anyone confirm the post was correct that that builds after the 8th of August 2012 have built in support for Realtek ...

Re: OpenELEC meets Raspberry Pi - part 1 (XBMC)
EDIMAX 7811 wifi Instruction on getting this dongle to work are in various places in these forums. They are mainly for the debian variant. The trouble with doing similar for openelec is the read only nature of the squashed file system. I managed to get the thing working by inserting some simple code...
