Re: Pi-mote from Energenie

This is an Energenie product, and is designed to work with Energenie ENER002 sockets.

Those are white, rather than black, and more square than the ones pictured on that link, so without testing I do not know if they are interchangeable.

I guess there is a good chance that they are...

Re: Webiopi Help

See the code I've posted for running bash code under Domoticz You can run an initial sudo script to export the GPIO's and set their privs to allow unpriv users to manage them subsequently. I do that once during start up, and leave the gpio pins available thereafter. Ordinary user can then twiddle th...

Re: B+ odd issues with SD card (solved)

Clobbering the first MB of the SDCard with dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda count=2048 seems to avoid the problem. From Phillip up thread or fdisking it with a non fat partition or a blank partition table seem more practical. Running a formatter on it , to then trash the format with a disc image seems o...

Re: B+ odd issues with SD card

Yes seen the video. Terrifying. I started this thread as I had some issues that looked to me like a possible attempt to be helpful by the internal processor in a big SD card, that had had unfortunate side effects, and wanted to flag it up in case others hit the same problem. FAT at 32G size is not v...

Re: B+ odd issues with SD card

Problem is that as far as the outside world is concerned, its in the lowest addresses on the SD card. Block zero as Andrew points out, but where it really is located depends on where the processor on the SD card put it. And its quite capable of special casing that address range. SD cards look like d...

Re: B+ odd issues with SD card

Will the faulting cards boot the Pi at all? I'm not clear from your description if it is partition 1 or 2 that is the problem. Or like my fault even the partition table borked. Your dd starts at the lowest address in the SD card I believe, and works its way up. The partition table is also at a very ...

Re: B+ odd issues with SD card

I'm guessing it would not be repeatable, since my hammer handed "you will take this fdisk" seems to have worked. Think I'll wait for the statistical answer, as 32G cards get used more, sandisk ones specifically, does the problem show up elsewhere. If it does we have this thread to help anyone else w...

Re: B+ odd issues with SD card

Initially the copied SD would not mount partition 1 on my linux laptop. IIRC partition 2 mounted fine. Facing another mega dd (32G takes hours) I had nothing to loose. Initially tried to create a new fat file system in partition 1. mkfs came back unable to find partition 1. Ran fdisk which reported ...

Re: B+ odd issues with SD card

Sorry was possibly not clear that I've resolved the issue. I'm wondering at the cause... The partition blocks at the beginning of the SD card were corrupted, but corrupted so that fdisk still knew that the first partition was a vfat one. Like something "knew" what the partition block should look lik...

B+ odd issues with SD card (solved)

Converting from an existing model B (rev 2 IIRC.) Updated the original Pi which has a 32G Sandisk full size SD card. dd the original 32G SD card on to a no name 32G microSD using my normal Linux laptop. Not exact match on the by bytes in and out on the two cards. Not a good sign. B+ would not boot w...

If you are playing with the bash code above, here is a link to a good description of the gpio system. http://raspberrypi.znix.com/hipidocs/topic_gpiodev.htm . Before you run the setup code above /sys/class/gpio contains some files and a directory for the gpio chip. to show: cd /sys/class/gpio ls -al...

Waiting on mine, from RS. Ordered late last night, got the dispatch email this morning.

Got a 10 port USB hub of my own that's obsolete. Wonder how many more will retire shortly :)

Could not be better for me, bunch of Arduino Nano's hanging of a Pi, tidies it all up nicely. :) :)

Sledgehammer approach: http://www.raspberry-asterisk.org/ with something like this: http://www.obihai.com/obi202pr or its simpler cousins. That gives you pretty much your own PBX to play with. Adding time and light level sensors would allow you to do whatever redirection you like. Not really a begin...

Re: Pi-mote from Energenie

Got the pi-mote working with Domoticz using simple bash scripts. Needs to work without sudo for Domoticz to be able to execute. Attached are three bash scripts. One is the initial setup, that exports the gpio pins, sets the privilege on the resulting /sys files, and configures all the gpio's Pi-Mote...

Re: using the Energenie Pi-mote with Ruby and PiPiper

Been doing some investigation of the control codes. See

I'm using Lua, but the GPIO settings should be easily portable.

Re: Pi-mote from Energenie

See the notes I've posted in a new thread since I screwed up searching here for an existing pi-mote thread. There are at least two further codes that work, and a partially functional third, so depending on what you want to use them for there are six fully functional sockets and a socket that you can...

Pi-Mote

Taken delivery of an Energenie pi-mote and a couple of controlled mains sockets. Have them working now, and reasonable lua scripts to control them. There are some issues with the python program and the notes in it that I've spent a happy afternoon investigating, and thought to post the results here....
