Re: Starting A New Cabinet

Regarding storage. If your just playing MAME games on RPi then you won't need to worry about HDD etc. The games are not that big in file size. The MAME ROMSET RPi emulators use is old compared to that on the PC: 0.106 & 0.37 PC's are on something like 0.161 at 50+GB of data. Only if you plan on play...

Re: Starting A New Cabinet

Hi, I will try and answer some of yout questions. Before cutting wood/plastic get RetroPie all setup with the monitor and arcade sticks you are going to use and get happy with how it will run/operate. Retropie sets up the rom folders for you. You can even plug in a usb stick and it will create folde...

Nice work. Does this just benefits vector games or do 2d's get a boost?

The way the cross hair is moving looks like you have analogue controls setup?
With digital controls I can hardly select the level on the first screen :)
I was much better in the 80's at Star Wars honest ;)

Re: CapriceRPI2: New Amstrad CPC emulator

I managed to get it working. Not exactly sure the correct method I used. But some thing like this: wget https://www.libsdl.org/projects/SDL_image/release/SDL_image-1.2.12.tar.gz tar xzvf SDL_image-1.2.12.tar.gz Problem was SDL_image.h was being looked for in /usr/include/SDL but it was installed in ...

Re: CapriceRPI2: New Amstrad CPC emulator

Hello, I had a go with this via compiling on RetroPie v3 image. Worked well, my wife enjoyed seeing some of the old Amstrad games. Great work ;) :geek: Now I am trying to install this on a fresh Rasbian download, but I am having compiling issues: menu.c:20:21: fatal error: SDL_ttf.h: No such file or...

Re: 2 Questions for a Retro System.

If your Pi has 512mb memory then I would just install RetroPie. It is one of the easest emulation systems to get up and running and I am pretty sure it is setup for PS3 controller. You set the controller on your first bootup. Once installed, stick a usb stick into the Pi. Retropie will create lots o...

Re: Memory split with rotated screen?

Hi, Just my 2p. I have built a vertical barcade, but with RPi 1 there is just not the grunt to rotate in config.txt and run anything but the simplest of arcade games. I am having to rotate AdvMENU/AdvMAME & MAME4ALL individually. I don't know if it makes a difference to rotate config.txt and then co...

These are fun projects ;) I fit a 4-gang main extension lead inside my cabinet, then I just have one plug going to the wall. If you are short of space how about a 3-socket plug cube thing: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001GBTMEW/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_2?pf_rd_p=569136327&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=2...

Re: ADVMAME - A "Beginners Guide" to Compiling and Using

Hi guys, Can you please help. I spent the whole weekend on trying to get AdvMAME 0.94 to compile etc. I have just finished my 3rd Bartop Arcade and this time it is a vertical one. I am having problems getting acceptable performance with the screen rotated. This is on an original 256mb Pi Although I ...

Re: New version emulator ZEsarUX 3.0: , ZX-Uno

I had a good play with ZEsarUX and it works really well 8-) . I tried most of your demo tapes now and some other demos and games. That USB sound card makes a massive difference. On RPi 2 - FPS might drop to 49fps for a fraction of a second. Otherwise 50fps :D I also tried ZX-Uno mode. I got the boot...

Re: New version emulator ZEsarUX 3.0: , ZX-Uno

Quick update. My USB sound card turned up in the post. And... sound is much much better. No clicking and using the included demo tapes the sound might just have note out every so often. For £2 it is a must. For the price I think I will buy some for my Arcade Bartops. Might make MAME Outrun's sound o...

I have a little switch on the back to swap between PC & Spectrum mode. The PC mode swaps 0-9 into F-keys and it gi...

Don't forget if your monitor has DVI you can use a HDMI-to-DVI cable. I am sure I have it on my RPi, I will try and remember to check tonight. I have...

Re: New version emulator ZEsarUX 3.0: Windows, ZX-Uno

Just wondering what is 'Real Video' ?

For reference the /rainbow/over128.z80 is 50fps 18% CPU no frameskips on RPi 2 1000MHz overclock. So the sound should not be CPU limited.

Games are around 13% CPU. Graphics demos 16-23% CPU

RPI 2 rocks 8-)

Hi, Ah! : So you can set those menu options only using joystick. It was this one:

Although it says Discontinued, but works with all RPi's? so not sure if there is an improved replacement. A good bit of kit.

Re: Using multiple console game controllers for Retropie

Hi, I have had a go with that driver a while back when I was going to build a 2-player bartop and it is fine. I did not use recalbox, I installed it to a set-up I already had. I picked up a self-solder MCP23017 kit for something like £11 which had 2x MCP23017. The i2c address was the only thing real...

Hi. The other two buttons are in MAME 'Menu' & 'Pause'. They do other things in the other emulators. you will have to do your own searching on ebay ; ) I think there are only a few types so just look at the pictures. Most items can be bought via China if you don't mind waiting. I use a mains 'multi ...
