Home Internet and Away WiFi Point

Basically, I would like to setup the Pi to connect to my home network when it is within range and setup its own network point (so I can SSH) into it when it's not. Could anyone advise me on how to do this? I have a USB Ralink adapter and the home network is WPA2.

Solved. Needed update-rc.d to actually run it. Thanks for the suggestion Dougie, I'll try that out if I have time.

Thanks for all the replies. Before I change the code a lot with the while loops and functions, any last clues on why the decorator isn't working and how I could get it to work? I'm running Python 2.7 and the decorator is pasted at the top of my code.

Thanks guys. I've gone overkill now with a 4096-bit RSA key and no password authentication allowed while disallowing root and changing default ssh port. Should be quite safe now and I've had no more attacks since.

It works! Running tests and most are passing. Nice to see the Pi simulating next-gen hardware. Might post up an image if anyone's interested, after I can make a new cleaner image. At the moment mine is around 6Gb but I might be able to squeeze it onto a 4Gb card.

Got it installed, don't know what was wrong, but still facing Cython outdated errors and int32/64 errors, possibly unrelated. I will try to solve these before posting another reply. It might be due to incompatibility with the ARM architecture. If so, I may try to set up some form of QEMU.
