Yet ALL of them seem to fail after a number of months (24/7), usually in about one year. Not one survived since start so far. In practice it ment I pretty much had to flash a card at the start of every winter for the heater. ... After all the tests with different brands it is fair to say the raspbe...

Re: Wireless comms. (again!)

You should be able to get much better range from a radio module (even a 433mhz one) but it might come down to the right choice of module and how you send the data over it. The really cheap modules might be cheap and seem easy to interface but the trade off is range and having to do any error detecti...

Re: Beginner questions. Looking for some tips

Hello everyone, I freshly registered here and hope I'm in the right place to ask some questions regarding the Pi. I finally got my hands on the Raspberry Pi to be precise the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B and I've been thinking on what I want my first project to be and decided to go with my LED strips tha...

I see. I may not be in the right place. Thank you for the link. I wonder if Pi-Hole would be a better thing to look at for your needs. As others have already said for a transparent web proxy (intercept mode) the device acting as the router for your network needs to be setup to pass web traffic to t...

Python/PHP/Ruby/JavaScript(like node.js) or a number of other languages run "server-side" and will both serve dynamic webpages and control the GPIO . Re: How come the price hasn't gone down?

Potentially others can make Pi like boards today for less. Although that does not seem to be so. So far. ... Or would we still pay for a Pi simply because of the excellent value of the support available? It could be argued that others have made Pi like boards for less, often copying the pi layout. ...

Re: help with SDR setup. Donald Norris

I think those tools have been packaged a while in raspbian so you could probably just use apt to install them. I know there's been some effort by people in Pi Towers to get some of the SDR tools packaged and working on the Pi (particularly those related to the world of HAB)

Oftentimes I will be running my Pi headless and using SSH to run my commands. Re: REAL MySQL instead of MariaDB

I am sure I am missing something, my version is Raspbian Jessie 8.0 Jessie (the previous release of Debian/Raspbian) has the original MySQL as bought out by Oracle, Stretch (the latest release of Debian/Raspbian) has switched to the fully opensource variant (as have most Linux Distributions) which ...

I have perfectly working solutions for one and true MySQL and I never wanted this cheap replacement shoved down my throat. I currently have 135 Raspberry Pi's deployed throughout our company. Almost all of them are setup identically, with the exception of one file. What I would like to do, is find a way that I can push updates to them all at once, from a master img that I maintain. This way we don't have to manually up...

First I tried with splitter cables but that failed, I thought they were probably asking for too much power from the pi, they flashed onto the desktop, then off, repeat, over and over. You can also buy strips of crimpable male and female 'pins' and packs of plastic shells for them. Try ebay. That's where I get mine. You can also buy a crimp tool, or use some small pliers. This is the 2013 version.
Do you mean 2013 version of Raspbian (in which case you should probably download a more recent version to use)?
or Do you mean 2013 version of the Pi (which would probably make it a 1B/1A/1B+ or 1A+)?

A few extra things to consider. Do you want the headphone jack to be Stereo (left and right might have different signals) or mono (left and right will be exactly the same). If you want to have stereo in the headphones then the headphone jack needs to be before the circuit that makes the signal into ...

The smart thing to do would have been to post some photos at the start of the thread... I can't tell from that if ...

I'm testing a theory... Since the Pi only has 256kb of memory these newer images may be a bit much for the poor old thing. If it's one of the (comparatively few) with only 256mb ram then there are other potential issues (It may also have polyfuses on the USB ports causing issues there). The majorit...
