Re: Anemometer

That one looks really good. I like the way it can be scaled (or calibrated) already. It is likely not that accurate, but probably close enough for my purposes.

Need to figure out what debouncing means.

Re: Anemometer

This is one option:

Looks good on screen.

Plus one of these to convert the voltage to something that can be understood by a Pi?:

Re: Anemometer

Like the original poster, I am looking for a low cost solution (think $50 or less) that I can use at home just to satisfy my own curiosity. Accuracy is not a prime motivator, but the more accurate the better. The ultrasonic technology looks pretty cool, but I suspect it will break my budget. scruss,...

Re: Anemometer

Not having used an analog to digital converter, what would work with the Pi? The technology is well known. I have been buying this type of instrument for 15+ years for use in industrial plants to measure air flow. Why do you feel it would not last long outside? It just needs an appropriately designe...

Re: Anemometer

Has anybody tried interfacing this anemometer to the Pi?
http://moderndevice.com/product/wind-sensor/

I like that there are no moving parts. I am not clear on how to read the analog output with the Pi.

Thanks!

Re: Security system cron jobs

It is working well with this code: 59 07 * * * LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/uv4l/uv4lext/armv6l/libuv4lext.so motion -c /etc/motion/motion.conf 30 23 * * * LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/uv4l/uv4lext/armv6l/libuv4lext.so motion -c /etc/motion/motion.conf 15 15 * * * /usr/bin/sudo /etc/init.d/motion stop >>/tmp/cron 2>&...

Re: Security system cron jobs

I just did a quick test with that and it seemed to work. I set up my schedule for tomorrow so we will see if it reliably stops motion tomorrow. Thanks for the tip!

Re: Security system cron jobs

Solved my own issue another way. Instead of stopping the motion daemon, I just created two config files. In one config file, the daemon is set up to detect motion. In the second config file, the daemon is set up to simply stream the output. In this way, with cron, I can just toggle between the two w...

Re: Security system cron jobs

Thanks! Tried this: */10 * * * * (date; /opt/vc/bin/vcgencmd measure_temp) >>/home/pi/SecurityCam/temperature.txt It works now. I did not know I could use brackets like that. Nifty. I want to write a temperature every ten minutes. I had messed up the schedule in the original post. As for the other c...

Security system cron jobs

Hi Folks, I have a security camera system on a pi that works great. I am trying to automate it a bit with cron and having some issues. The system uses Motion and has worked very well. My issue is with two things related to cron... I think. The following three commands work just fine in terminal and ...

Re: Video4Linux2 driver ready!

I am trying to start and stop this driver with the root crontab and the following two commands (basically to run it during the day). 50 7 * * * LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/uv4l/uv4lext/armv6l/libuv4lext.so motion -c /etc/motion/motion.conf 30 15 * * * /etc/init.d/motion stop It does not seem to be stopping ...

Re: Video4Linux2 driver ready!

Put "LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/uv4l/uv4lext/armv6l/libuv4lext.so" in /etc/environment Thanks for the reply... Curiously, it is there already. No dice. This is what I see on boot with the command: tail -f /var/log/syslog Apr 18 18:13:30 pisecure motion: [1] #011"brightness", default 50, current 50 Apr 18 ...

Re: Video4Linux2 driver ready!

sudo LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/uv4l/uv4lext/armv61/libuv4lext.so python camTest.py It's "armv6l", not "armv61", in the path. LD_PRELOAD pointing to the extension library is necessary with python/pygame You can make LD_PRELOAD permanent by doing "export LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/uv4l/uv4lext/armv6l/libuv4lext.s...
