Re: popup window/messagebox for rpi

Thanks - zenity already installed in wheezy on rpi. It seems able to do lots of things - my message box is just one of n. Google didn't show it zenity --info --text="ok" --timeout=5 2> /dev/null outputs an ok message box for 5 secs. I had to include the 2?/dev/null to stop a zenity warning saying ' ...

popup window/messagebox for rpi

Been googling gui, popup, window - seems very complicated - all I want is the ability, from bash, or perl, under wheezy, to put up an information window on desktop - just some text that lasts for n seconds and tells me when some script or program running in the background or started using @reboot, h...

uSD are pretty cheap now - best bet is to buy a new one.

The Pi went uSD when the B+ was launched, some while ago!
But why not? - there must be a lot of newish 4-8G or even bigger SDs out there. J

Are you sure the older cards are actually SD, and not microSD in an SD adapter?
Yes, I can see them here! J

Re: run rpi 2 on sd

They don't exist. http://www.zeitech.de/Zeroplus-Micro-SD-Karte-Adapter Thanks - tho not 100% sure where it accomodates the SD. Also it is v expensive - the microsd- sd adapters that are so plentiful can be less that £1 including postage. Still think there should be market - lots of usable SDs out ...

run rpi 2 on sd

Did I miss something. I'd assumed that my rpi 2 would be same as my rpi 1 ie use SD, but find it doesn't - needs microsd, so can't use my SDs. I've been looking on ebay/amazon etc for an adapter but find there are lots of them, but they are all adapters to plug a microsd into a SD slot. Did I miss s...

Re: pi 2 speed

Thanks for this analysis. BTW, were there these tests of yours done on a standard raspian wheezy (or jessie)? If so that implies that the existing os that's been running on rpi 1 already has the ability to utilize n cores. I'm thinking of using one SD (or actually microsd) & booting alternately with...

pi 2 speed

Confused about processor speed - Running jessie, overclocking my pi 1 to 1Ghz, I'm running a few lines of perl program that times 100000 assignments, a+b*c, sins etc to measure speed. Assuming that I overclock my pi 2, when I get it, to 1Ghz I'm guessing that it'll run on 1 core & at more or less th...

Re: jessie download

Re the confusing message you shouldn't put things in emails including footers that confuse - I'm reasonably email savvy & was confused - no doubt others are too, so why not get off your high horse, forget about your 'fame', be pleased that people are emailing you and remove it. Re Jessie, just becau...

Re: jessie download

imo poor netiquette - not a good idea to have confusing messages in mail, even if you are famous - as you appear to think you are!

jessie download

Sorry if wrong forum, but isn't it time that there's a jessie download here. I've been using jessie for while & it is really stable, just as stable as wheezy imo. Also some faults in wheezy are fixed.
