I would have suggested automation sensing and robotics forum.

Buy a set of IR LEDtransmitter and receivers and then set them up.

Re: What I really want.

If you cycle through enough Pi's for this to be a frequent issue for you then I would suggest setting up a 16x2 or 20x4 lcd display and setting up a SD card to display the MAC address.

Plug it all in and read off the mac address then swap your setup.

Which variety of LED strip are you planning to use? There are several varieties, each with a different control method. Googling: "raspberry pi LED strip" should give you a start to research. Similarly, googling: "raspberry pi fan speed control" should give you a start towards figuring out how to run...

Hi all, I apologise in advance if this in the wrong place, or this confuses you. I'm a relative newbie to any kind of electronics. Looks like your Pi doesn't have the file that you are asking for, have you installed the library? Installing the library Note: The library has been tested against Python 2.7 and 3.4. For Python3 installation, substitute pip ⇒ pip3, python ⇒ python3, python-dev ⇒ python3-dev, and python-pip ⇒ python3...

I had a good google and couldn't find much out there, how about an ATMEGA328 (basis of arduino) programmed as an i2c slave? Alternatively you could attach a PCA9635 (the brains of adafruits pwm board) onto a smd to dip converter (which still requires smd soldering, which is the bit i think you are t...

I think they are overcharging.

If you have an idea of what you want to do then buy the parts for that, i could probably get the kit you linked for 1/4 the price by buying yhe components individually.

There is no need for an external supply, GPIO's set to input take very little current (current limiting resistors should be added to prevent damage if the GPIO's accidentally get switched to output). The chances are that your external supply has broken your pi, does it run with nothing connected to ...

You can use this HAT http://www.nationelectronics.com/raspberry-pi-extensions/1-raspberry-pi-hat-32-io-port-expander-v11-0648260628192.html It has two port expanders (32 I/O) and the Signal Level Shift Module from 3.3V to 5V that you need. ----- viglesias The OP already said that i2c was too slow.

You need to use a transistor to switch the higher voltage.

A 3.3v to 5v logic level converter would be useful for you.
