Re: model B and new raspian image

I'll create a new thread for this to avoid repeats - yes there's a method of 'Creating a 4Gb Jessie Light' - that'll be the title of my post ;)

Re: How to upgrade a Wheezy image to Jessie

I'll post my method in a new thread as it relates to creating a new image as opposed to upgrading ; but I had real difficulties with the Wheezy / Jessie upgrade. I would recommend backing up any files you have on your wheezy card and starting with a fresh Jessie .img ; a lot quicker and pain free. W...

ScratchGPIO & GPIO Server 1st Glance

Wow it's been a busy couple of weeks with a new release of Raspian Jessie and a new version of Scratch to boot - this time with GPIO support. I have personally tried quite a few aspects of setting up and using Jessie and I am very impressed with speed increase / performance all over. With a new vers...

VNC on Raspian Jessie

Hi peeps - baked a fresh SD card with Jessie yesterday and doing some trials now. I tried installing tightvnc first after first boot and sudo update etc of Jessie; installed OK BUT could not connect at all. So I removed (apt-get uninstall) tightvnc and used Simon Walters trusted install - did a rebo...

Re: Jessie Q&A

I tried to install tightvnc according to instructions found here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/remote-access/vnc/README.md But on the 3rd command I got an error message: [email protected] ~ $ vncserver :0 -geometry 1280x900 -depth 24 Warning: rpi2-jessie:0 is taken because of /tmp/.X0-loc...

Well having seen the work you do Peter, this coming from a total n00b to code, I would say don't sell yourself cheap. A 'product sample' is NOT a like for like payment for doing what essentially is development of the said product.

Re: Setting up HDMI output when video output isn't what you

OK - some good advice her but with the plethora of screens and monitors available - there's a lot of 'suck it and see' to be done. I have been trying to get a 'universal setup' going for the school I work in - unfortunately furbished with a load of [email protected]#py VGA's , all of various makes and ages - few ...

ScratchGPIO (&plus)

Good evening good folks I use ScratchGPIO on my various Pi's extensively : it is an incredibly usefulI tool in terms of explaining the GPIO functions at KS2 level (and n00bs like myself). Although twitter is my main channel for debug questions it is very limiting for in-depth discussion and this is ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 2 ; GPIO not working

as Gordon said the dev version of rpi.GPIO works and although there are warnings about 'what it could do' to your Pi2 , well it's not as if its gonna blow up ?!?!? A 'damage limitation statement' from foundation would surely be welcome now . . . .

Re: Raspberry Pi 2 ; GPIO not working

Well good news peeps - bit of a workaround but as Gareth pointed out earlier you need to install the dev version of python from here http://sourceforge.net/p/raspberry-gpio ... i/install/ - works very well with Python2/3 and ScratchGPIO 7. Im off to bed :ugeek:

OK so got VCN working now on to GPIO Model B2, trying to set up GPIO as prescribed by gardav (4Tronix) seems to be working for him. Error messages given when running IDLE or ScratchGPIO is as follows: 'Runtime Error, this module can only be run on a Raspberry Pi' uuuhhhh ?!?! Anyone else got...

I started with an older image 30/12/14 which already had VNC installed from http://simplesi.net/auto-install-x11vnc/, then did the following: $sudo apt-get update $sudo apt-get upgrade -y I then applied the Rpi.GPIO from http://sourceforge.net/p/raspberry-gpio-python/wiki/install/ Last week I was d...

VNC on RaspberryPi 2

Morning peeps, experiencing difficulties setting up VNC / TightVNC On Pi2, tried 'upgrade method' as described PiHut & GeekyTim (via B+) and setting up a fresh img - but without rpi-update. Re: Solid-Run hummingboard

Well - having been given an Hummingboard to test / compare to the Raspberry Pi my verdict is very simple : It would be a nice board to use if you could get a working , stable 'Distro' on it. I am now packing the Hummingboard up and either returning it or passing it on to somebody with more hardcore ...
