Apache2 virtual host file not there.

I have been following the RPF's tutorial on creating a LAMP server on my Raspberry Pi. I've almost finished, but I've hit a roadblock. The tutorial says: You'll also need to tell the virtual host serving the site to allow requests to be overwritten. Do this by editing the virtual host file (with roo...

USB hub shows up on Pi Zero but nothing works

I have a cheap eBay USB hub, which I eventually want plugged in to be able to use multiple controllers with Retropie on a Pi Zero. It works fine on my Pi 2, but absolutely nothing happens with my zero at all. When I run lsusb on the Pi Zero I get one entry for 'Genesys logic inc. USB 2.0 Hub / D-Lin...

Help! - No power on B+ but GPIO power is fine

I've just desoldered the USB ports on a pi B+. I had desoldered the ethernet some days ago, and it worked fine. I tested it without the USBs and nothing happened, except my DPI screen attached to an Adafruit KIPPAH glowed white, as it does just before booting normally. No power lights are on. Then, ...

Keymapping multiple USB NES controllers with a pi

I'm working on an arcade project, to be powered by an a+. I want to use 4 cheap USB NES controllers (such as this) with a USB hub into a single port. I'm looking at using Retropie, which is based on Raspbian as a base OS. I'm assuming that all of the controllers will be mapped to the same keys, so i...

Re: Completely change the keymapping of a keyboard in Raspbi

There are already the wrong number of keys on each row - it's not very well designed. I have redesigned the keyboard, so that it does fit, in my opinion, better than it did before and it's upside down. The space key thing was an issue - I've decided that I want that row to be the function keys, so I...

Re: Completely change the keymapping of a keyboard in Raspbi

That looks pretty good. I will give it a go soon, I think I'll draw out what I propose each key to be, try and find the identifier of each key and then make my own keymap.

Completely change the keymapping of a keyboard in Raspbian

Hi, Apologies if this isn't the right forum, I couldn't find one for keyboards specifically. I am building a portable RPi in a (large) mint tin. I bought a wireless keyboard in Maplin ages ago (they no longer sell it, it was product code N99KA). I ripped it open, and the PCB fits absolutely perfecrl...

Re: How to use Sparkfun Geiger Counter with Pi?

Right. I had a look around on the product page and then the Github repo for the product, and I found this page: https://github.com/sparkfun/Geiger_Counter/tree/HW_2.1_FW_2.1/firmware/geiger_counter_board From the description, this does pretty much exactly what I want - gives a counts per second valu...

Re: How to use Sparkfun Geiger Counter with Pi?

Hi, Thanks for your help. I've done what you said, and indeed many 0s and 1s begin to crawl across the screen. However, I'm not sure what a 0 or a 1 should signify - as far as I can tell whenever the counter LED on the board flashes, a 0 or a 1 comes up, but I don't know the difference between them....

VCNL4000 with Raspberry Pi

Hi, I've bought a VCNL4000 board from Adafruit ( https://www.adafruit.com/products/466 ). I've got it working with an Arduino Uno, but now I want to migrate to the Raspberry Pi (A B+, which will later be switched for an A+). How should I do this? I have followed a tutorial ( https://www.openhomeauto...

How to use Sparkfun Geiger Counter with Pi?

Hi, I recently bought a Sparkfun Geiger Counter board ( https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11345 ), to use in a robotics project with a Raspberry Pi A+ (although I'm doing the development with a B+ for practicality). I think that the best way to connect it is over USB, as the Pi and the Geiger Counte...

Fantastic! So, do I need to use the transistors at all? What would they do? And would I just connect servos like in that article, but to different pins?

Thanks,

Multiple servo control

Hi, I am working on a robotics project for a competition, and I need to control 3 continuous-rotation servo motors from a Raspberry Pi A+. I've planned it all out with a bill of materials and everything, and have ordered some transistors (2N2222, from Pimoroni) to drive the servo motors, as describe...

One-button Arduino code uploader

Hi, I've been putting together a small set for working on-the-go with small Arduino-compatible boards, to prototype with. I've been working with an app called ArduinoDroid for Android, which I could use to write the code, and flash it to an Arduino. However, the boards I use (at the moment Adafruit'...

Re: Calculating what battery I need

I'll see how I get on. There's going to be enough cutting and soldering of wires anyway (I'm putting switches on the USB cables so that you can plug it into a USB port and power the charger or power the pi directly, according to which way the switch is set). I also need to shorten the keyboard cable...

Re: Calculating what battery I need

Hi Djinny, I did think about having some external-power-only USBs, but there are a couple of problems: Firstly, the way I have designed it, the USB&Ethernet side of the Pi will be facing the outside of the laptop (so I can easily plug stuff in) so the wire to the hub would need to loop round out and...

Re: Calculating what battery I need

Ok, So I have changed my plan a little, and I now plan to use a Lumsing 6000mAh battery pack, which can be found on Amazon for £15-20. This has been done here: ( http://www.raspberrypi-spy.co.uk/2014/12/my-portable-raspberry-pi-hdmipi-build-part-1/#comment-100939 ) and he/she says that they can get ...

Re: Calculating what battery I need

Thanks so much - that's really helpful. It doesn't matter that it's not spot-on, I just really needed a rough estimate. I think I'll go for a 2600mAh battery - this should give me around two hours of runtime. In addition to this, the HDMIPi driver board will run off a 5.2V Micro USB, so this will en...

Calculating what battery I need

Hi, I am working on a laptop, which is to be built out of a R-Pi B+, and an HDMIPi Screen. It will be portable, and have a built-in mouse and trackpad. It will also be powered by a Lithium-polymer battery, running at 11.1v, which will feed into the driver board for the HDMIPi, which in turn will pow...

Hi, I have been trying to set up a server with my Pi (Model B Rev2), with the idea that I could use Google Coder for Raspberry Pi ( http://googlecreativelab.github.io/coder/ ) to write my HTML/JS Code (as I currently have little experience with HTML or JavaScript), and then export the code as a zip ...

Just out of interest, is there any way to easily switch back to booting on an external (HDMI) display?

Thanks,

Using a push-button to enter text in the command line/PiTFT

Hi, I'm not sure if I've posted this in the right place or not. Sorry if I haven't. Basically, I have got an Adafruit PiTFT and attached it to my pi. It's all working, but to get it to work you have to boot the pi, key in 'startx' and then it starts and logs in to the GUI, displaying it onto the PiT...
