Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

@Rascas: I've noticed that your Pi-accelerated build of Kodi for Raspbian has left the Kodi update notification setting on, which means it is coming up tell me there is an update available, but there is no update package available yet. It might be worth disabling this, to stop folk pestering you fo...

Hello, i have a problem with the Terratec H6 (identified as Terratec H5 MKii) - Driver: dvb-usb-terratec-h5-drxk.fw. I have 2 Raspis (Raspi3b+/Stretch) and Raspi4-4GB/Buster. Problem is the different handling of the driver for the USB-TV stick (Terratec H6 or H5MkII ). With stretch/Leia 18.2/Raspi3...

Re: Headless KODI Internet radio setup

Here is a good guide to setup Kodi on Raspbian: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=251645 Take a look on the autostart part. If you want to autostart Kodi after the Desktop Environment starts, you should edit the file /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart. This file is a global a...

Hi everyone .. This is my first post here! Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

For some reason, the current version of Kodi doesnt provide 2 important files: /etc/init.d/kodi /etc/default/kodi They are required to start kodi on boot. To fix the problem you need to create /etc/init.d/kodi first: $ sudo touch /etc/init.d/kodi The second file to create is /etc/default/kodi. $ su...

Re: Moving Linux Kernel to 5.4

Is the stateless v4l2 HEVC codec available in this kernel? In /lib/modules/5.4.29-v7l+/kernel/drivers/staging/media/rpivid/ there is a rpivid_hevc.ko. When I load it with sudo modprobe rpivid_hevc , I would expect a new device to appear such as /dev/video19, but nothing happens. I can see the modul...

Hi,
For those who only use Kodi is it worth upgrading to Kernel 5.4?
Don't thinks so. Kernel 5.4 is still in testing and from a quick look, performance looks like the same, nothing new.

Re: Moving Linux Kernel to 5.4

From a very quick test here is my results on a Pi4 with 32bit kernel (default, pretty much everything stock): With dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d: Kodi runs fine and HDR/10bit videos looks like the colors is now correct. Performance looks the same though, some high bitrate 4K HEVC HDR still skips frames. Bu...

Re: HEVC videos not playing propperly in Raspbian and VLC

Hi guys, i recently bought a Pi4 with 4GB RAM and want to use it as DNS- and VPN-Server and Mediacenter. So i guess raspbian is the best choice instead of LibreELEC etc. Unfortunately i'm not able to watch HEVC 4K movies on the Pi. The file is on an external harddrive connected on USB3. In VLC i ju...

Re: HEVC videos not playing propperly in Raspbian and VLC

That's a 4K HEVC HDR/10bit video. HDR/10bit support on RPi 4 is not yet complete so it is normal that it won't play fine. Colors will be washed for example. Also notice that is a very high bitrate file, 140 Mbit/s.
Full support for HDR/10bit should only come on Kodi 19, don't know about VLC.

Re: RPi4 video performance

I'm puzzled that nine months after the release of the Pi 4 Libreelec is still better at this than Raspbian. I guess we're now at the point where the Pi 4 was originally planned to be released so it's about time. LibreELEC is JEOS (just enough OS) a minimum OS with only the needed to run Kodi. That'...

Re: How to set up KODI to start at boot and run background

Hello, I had the same question and found a solution :) With latest Raspbian, I installed previous version of kodi (17), still available in the official repo: # sudo apt-get install kodi=2:17.6+dfsg1-4+b1 (for later, it is possible to find available versions of a package with # apt-cache madison kod...
