Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Stretch

Logs show nothing. Sorry, I don't have the means to post a large file. Any advice on how to downgrade to 17.3? First available version on Stretch is Kodi 17.4, there is no easy way to downgrade it further. You can create a small sample of the video file with ffmpeg or handbrake, or at least provide...

Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Stretch

I upgraded my RPi2 to Stretch and Kodi 17.6 back in March without incident. 99% of videos are playing fine, as before. The problem I've found happens at certain parts of 1080p 50 fps h.264 videos. It's sort of like a stuttering/freezing, but I don't see high CPU, low buffers, dropped/skipped frames...

Re: Kweb Suite (Minimal Kiosk Browser, omxplayerGUI)

Sorry for the trouble, it was that specific video that I was testing, others seem to work fine. Strange that that one works in Jessie but not on Stretch. Thanks for the help.

On latest Stretch with Desktop Image, only kweb installed: pi@raspberrypi:~ $ dpkg --get-selections | grep dbus dbus install dbus-user-session install dbus-x11 install libdbus-1-3:armhf install libdbus-glib-1-2:armhf install libnih-dbus1 install libqt5dbus5:armhf install python-dbus install python3-...

Re: Kweb Suite (Minimal Kiosk Browser, omxplayerGUI)

Thanks for your help, but I couldn't make it work still. I tried with latest Stretch image from 2018-04-18 which has kernel 4.14.34 and firmware from Apr 16 2018. Also tried updating with rpi-update to latest kernel (4.14.43) and firmware (25 May 2018). This with omxplayer version from 30 Mar 2017, ...

Re: Kweb Suite (Minimal Kiosk Browser, omxplayerGUI)

There is no "f" on title bar, i think I never saw it. Tested on an old Stretch image updated and now on the latest Stretch image, it still doesn't work. Is there any special dbus dependency?

Re: Kweb Suite (Minimal Kiosk Browser, omxplayerGUI)

On Raspbian Jessie, when playing a video directly trough omxplayerGUI, I am able to choose a diferent resolution and the video overlay adjusts accordingly. I am also able to move the omxplayerGUI window and the overlay goes to where I release the mouse button. But on Raspbian Stretch I am not able t...

Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Stretch

My understanding is that Kodi ran better on Jessie, which is why I'm considering using that build of Raspbian. Is there something I'm missing? Am running Kodi 17.6 on top of latest Raspbian Stretch with Desktop on a Raspberry Pi Zero WH. Files accessed from NAS, Raspberry Pi3 samba share and Window...

Re: Kodi not starting - Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I have the same problem after update && upgrade. No kodi, no Remmina, No VLC. It looks like something broken with the new GPU drivers or something else. If I reinstall the image of OS back, everything is back to normal. Double-checked this on two RPI 3. There is no problem with latest stretch versi...

Re: Kodi not starting - Segmentation fault (core dumped)

That kind of hardware shouldn't interfere with Kodi, but the TV, specially it's CEC implementation can cause the crash. Can you try it with another TV ? About python, Kodi depends on python2.7, many different packages, you have to check the depends section of "kodi" and "kodi-bin" packages. Can you ...

Re: Kodi not starting - Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Yes, there isn't any error in your latest logs, that is really strange. Did you changed any hardware that you use with the Pi since the last time it worked ? Like power supply, microUSB cables, TV, etc ? Also did you installed/activated the open-source video/OpenGL drivers recently ? The only thing ...

Re: Kodi not starting - Segmentation fault (core dumped)

It is possible that you got corrupted files in your installation. Can you please move/remove /home/pi/.kodi, reinstall kodi with:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install --reinstall kodi
Whatch if you get any errors during reinstall. Then start Kodi with the user "Pi".

Re: Kodi not starting - Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Do you have any joystick connected ? Can you try without it connected ? Also a debug log would be more usefull since there is nothing in the logs that could explain the crash:

Re: Kodi not starting - Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Please post your crash log into some site like pastebin:
Crash report available at /root/kodi_crashlog-20180509_212951.log
And it is not advisable to run Kodi as root, but that is not the cause of your problem, just an advice ;)

But I wouldn't recommend to use both on the same RPi. HA runs even on the Zero, and you get things separated.

Re: Kodi and Home Assist simultanly

Yes, Kodi and Home Assistant runs on Raspbian for example, I had both running some time ago with no problem. To put it shortly, install Raspbian then install Kodi, you have a complete guide in this foruns on how to do it. Then follow the official instructions of Home Assistant to install it on Raspb...

That is not possible on the Raspberry P, at least till now. If you start Kodi it will stay always on top, you have to close it to return to the desktop.

That's another option. I don't use Noobs personnally but it should have the option to install other OSs, it is one of it's main purpose.

That is impossible, you aren't doing something right, like copying the files to the sdcard, or adding the correct dir. Try again, and please give more details and post your Kodi log.

You just have to add to directory which contain the music files as a source in the Music section. All the information here:
