Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

@rascas: Thanks alot for the build! Could you also provide a source package / build instructions by any chance? I would like to fix/patch multithreaded SW decoding in my kodi build (see https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/issues/15893), but I can't seem to find a debian buster source package for kodi (of ...

Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

I've noticed that kodi (on a pi2b) seems to require a fair bit of gpu mem for decoding h265 but does it well (!!) nowadays. Is there some way I can control the split so that I have more ram in "desktop mode" and more gpu memory in "kodi mode" ? thanks for any suggestions. I'm actually experimenting...

Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

Hi there people! I updated my raspberry pi 3 to buster yesterday. Now, I am trying to install the latest version of pvr-teleboy, but it looks the version available is still 18.0.25 from a year ago which is not functional any more. Version 18.1.6 is out there and availbe for ubuntu but not for raspb...

Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

Guys, I am getting Kodi freezed on exit like 80 percent of the time for last 14 days. The crashlog is not generated and I am forcing the Raspberry PI 4 to reboot so I don't need to unplug cable. Anyway it take quite a long time for reboot to kill Kodi and reboot. Any guide how to get the log or any...

Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

Hi first off thanks for this. Only issue I have is watching 1080i content, from a TVHeadend server...it plays for 2-5 seconds then the picture just freezes and I have to press stop to return to the menu. Has anyone experienced this or know of a fix? Happy to provide logs if needed. Cheers. Yes, ple...

Besides the 2 ways I mentioned above and you where unable to do, your only other option is to format the sdcard and install the system again.

I am 100% sure that if you press the predifined window key you will get fullscreen but if to can't find it you can't always reset Kodi settings by removing /home/pi/.kodi

Re: 4k display issue

That happens because you accidentally pressed the shortcut key to go to windowed mode, but as the RPi does not support windowed mode, that happens. In your keyboard it is probably another key. Try everyone of them, one will work.

Re: Pi4 64-bit raspbian kernel for testing - Focus on Pi4

Just to add another issue - the (now official) rascas Raspberry Pi-specific build of Kodi is non-functional on the 64-bit kernel - it displays its bootsplash then crashes. Log available if anyone is interested. Does the rascas build do anything specific, for example is it built to play 4k video? Ju...

Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

Update: If you update kernel/firmware with rpi-update, Kodi with the 64 bit kernel works. But somethings might not work, more fixes may be needed in kernel/firmware and Kodi source code.

Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

No need to provide logs here, I already tested and I can confirm that it does not work. The error is the "could not initialize vc shared memory service". This could indicate that there was a permissions issue but it is not that because if you start Kodi as root it gives the same error. I believe it ...

Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

It seems this build of Kodi doesn't work with the 64-bit kernel. Is this a known "issue"? I put that in inverted commas, since the 64-bit kernel is just a beta. I am not sure if it is supposed to work with the 64-bit kernel, I suppose not. There is some hardware stuff on the Pi that is 32 bit only ...

there is an option in kodi to calibrate the screen...
Kodi internal screen calibration should only be used as last resort. Did disable_overscan=1 fixed it ? Don't forget to reboot after changing config.txt for changes to take effect.

Re: Kodi extend 4k screen size using Pi4 raspbian

That's most likely due to your TV/Monitor overscan settings. Try changing your TV/Monitor display settings, that is usually something like 16:9, scale, fit screen or something similar. In your case I believe that adding the following line to /boot/config.txt should fix your problem: disable_overscan...

Re: Raspbian+Kodi autostart and exit Kodi

Use just "kodi" instead of "kodi-standalone". Kodi-standalone restarts kodi if, for some reason, it is not a clean exit.
