Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Stretch

Hello, What am I missing to get 17.4 out of full screen on Stretch? Gone are the 2 options under Display mode for Window or Full, only resolution. Backslash does nothing. BTW, I'm used to running Kodi on Ubuntu with AMD64 so maybe this option is disabled for the ARM to conserve resources? You can't...

Re: Kodi on Raspbian Stretch

I have just installed kodi 17.4 on a fresh new raspbian stretch, but with a newly created user, not the default pi. It is not working. I guess it could be due to groups to which the user must belong. It was mentioned, but it does not seem to have been posted here. Do we have to assume that groups a...

Re: KODI 17. PROBLEM WITH PERMISSIONS

That file is HEVC aka h265. To play it you need to have mmal enabled and omxplayer disabled in video settings. HEVC won't work in RPi 0/1.

Re: Kodi on Raspbian Stretch

Tvheadend is not available on debian/raspbian repos, you have to go to the tvheadend project page and follow their instructions to install their repo and then the server. ok, all setup done, thanks. but, only play HD channels not SD, in jessie can play HD & SD both. Did you enabled the extra codecs...

It would be painful to say the least (unless you drop the quality to the lowest setting).
Kyle_d17 won't have any problem watching Twitch streams in Kodi with the Twitch addon, because the streams are h264, so it will be hardware accelerated, they will play fine even 1080p if available.

Re: Kodi on Raspbian Stretch

/etc/init.d/kodi is from an old Kodi version, it is not included in newer packages. Kodi installs all the needed dependencies, xserver is not one of them, and if you try to remove one dependencie it also removes Kodi. It should not be your probem. Did you tried starting with a default config/setting...

Re: Kodi segfault after update.

You have Raspbian Stretch, at least now, but you are running Kodi 17.3 for Jessie. When you uptaded, probably not all packages where upgraded in the process. Not sure how you did it, but doing a full upgrade should fix it:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Re: Kodi segfault after update.

That errors are normal, upower is not needed and they dont cause a segfault. The full log/crashlog is needed to see the real problem.

Re: Kodi on Raspbian

Good writeup but this part confuses me: Also, Kodi on Raspbian by default, doesn't play some video codecs like VP6, VP8, MJPEG, Theora, etc, so to be able to play this codecs, you need to go to "raspi-config" -> "Interfacing Options" -> "Camera" -> Enable, or just add a new line in /boot/config.txt...

Are the special settings (like certain udev rules and adding pi to some groups) still needed? The udev rules are not needed anymore, they are already included in Raspbian. And if you are using the default user "pi" you also don't need to add any groups. Later today I will post the groups needed for...

Re: Kernel panics since stretch update

RetroPie is still based on Jessie, alot of things will fail if you force the update o Stretch. You will have to wait for the Stretch version.
The corruption of the filesystem is not related to distro version, it depends only on your hardware.

Re: Kodi 17.1 incredibly slow on RaspBian Stretch on Raspberry Pi 3

You have only 76MB allocated to the GPU. The minimum for Kodi is 160MB and the recommended for RPi 2/3 is 256MB.
Also make sure you are using the Broadcom video drivers, it won't work with the open-source OpenGL drivers.

Re: When starts Kodi, Pi3 almost hangs - please advise

Update the system, Kodi 17.4 for Stretch is already available.
And notice that when temperature raises above 80 ºC, the cpu gets downclocked, so it works on a lower frequency.

If that doesn't solve yout problems, post your Kodi log:
