Re: Using Pi as a media Centre with 1tb External?

i've given a try to raspBMC's AirPlay with my iPh 5 with iOS 7.0.6, but i had some issues with videos, being the RPi recognized as a audio only device and/or loading videos and then exiting. i gave up. That's a strange one.. i guess i'm just lucky. mine seems to be fine with airplay from all my dev...

Re: Using Pi as a media Centre with 1tb External?

Hi there, I am currently using a Pi with Raspbmc installed on a class 6 USB and a 500gb hdd attached via USB. I have setup a static IP and it is connected via Ethernet. I have had no problems at all with referencing my files or getting Raspbmc to collect metadata. I use Filezilla to connect my MacBo...

Hdd access ftp

Hi everyone, just a quick questik. As it's probably something very simple, i have installed and configured my pi with the latest raspbmc connected an external hdd and added it to the library. I have managed to open filezilla on my mac and ftp connected into it using the default username and password...

Re: connecting HDD

awesome! thanks, i have just got it booted and am running well on an over clock. nice and smooth with confluence. Really wish i had a bit more power so i could run AEON MQ5 but alas not good enough. Re: Designing a new case

i would love to see a dedicated media case. Space for a 2.5inch hdd, a usb hub (powered?) the Pi and all the ports on one side. That i would buy!!!

Price would need to be no more than £20 sterling :)

Re: Canon EOS Rebel ?

I started off with a canon 350D and now use a gripped 700D about to move to a 7D or 5Dmk2 They all have benefits and weaknesses. Grip size varies greatly. Especially when you look at ones like the 100D vs 1000D. I would suggest popping into a camera shop and trying a few on for size. Then pop online...

Re: I DID IT!!!!

Ok thanks for an honest answer. I'm very VERY excited as you may be able to tell. I'm hoping to make a small enclosure in the future (To hold USB hub, Pi and a 2.5inch HDD) I'm also looking to re-work the wires to they all come out the same side of the case (the back lol) one of my bug bears is the ...

Re: I DID IT!!!!

So out of the two os which would you recommend? Bear in mind that i'm starting a fresh with all this but i don't want to go with a multiboot option like noobs i want something to boot straight to the OS (XBMC variant)

Hopefully i can get away without the need for a USB hub but we shall see! :)

I DID IT!!!!

So i finally took the plunge. I have bought myself a Raspberry Pi 512mb Model B version 2.0 from a company called NewIT and a IceBerry Case by CYNTECH. I bought my first Pi back about 2 years (i think) in the model A and was a bit dissapointed how it performed but after reading arround i hear the in...

Re: New member wanting a slice of the Pi

I'm a little confused over the last 2 posts, My enquiry of What else is there? was relating to alternate devices i could use. such as the udoo, the beagleboard or the Xios that is better suited for my needs (playing media from HDD whilst using as little power as possible) On second thought i'm very ...

Re: New member wanting a slice of the Pi

Sure the pi has all the support i could ask for. But one othe the other members says earlier in this thread

"I'm sure the Pi can do any and all of what you want to some degree or other. But really, the Pi was not created just as a means to watch telly."

So i thought ok what else is there?

Re: New member wanting a slice of the Pi

The hdd is a 3.5 wd eco green hdd, mains powered. Am i barking up the wrong tree in that there is a better, very low energy, low cost option out there? I have seen the udoo which looks similar but newer with more ram?

Re: New member wanting a slice of the Pi

Whilst it's true i already have a setup already i'm looking for something that can have the hdd plugged directly to it. Recently i have found it harder and herder to stream to my apple tv. Rather than faffing with airplay, itunes and home sharing i was hoping the pi would simplify things. I'm not su...

Re: New member wanting a slice of the Pi

must be my mistake i could have sworn it was kickstarter.

If a PI is connected to an external HDD is is then possible to connect to the HDD as a network device or would that need different os other than the one previously mentioned.?

New member wanting a slice of the Pi

Hi all, So ages ago i backed the Pi on kickstarter and loved using it for all of about 3 months after which i got bored, sold it and moved on to a home media server (mac mini) and an apple TV. Now i'm thinking of moving back to Pi. Before i buy i just wanted to confirm i can do what i hope i can wit...
