Re: raspbian on via apc

I've created a very early test image of Raspbian for the APC. Unfortunately, the current kernel sources released by Via do not include a frame buffer so no graphics. For anyone interested, more information is here:

Re: MATE for Raspbian

I was just reading on the Mate web site that version 1.4 has been released on the 30th of July. It has a lot of new features that sound interesting. I was wondering if it would be possible that the new version could be compiled for Raspbian? I know this will probably be a couple of days compilation...

Re: Raspbian vs Wheezy (beta) Mono support

Probably only Arm7 focus. As expected. That seems to be the biggest problem with armhf packages that aren't yet ported to Raspbian, particularly the ones with VMs. The ports are using armv7 specific code which is very often to difficult to work around unless you are intimately familiar with the sof...

Re: D compiler on Raspbian - problems

It would appear gdc 4.6 doesn't support arm and gdc 4.7 isn't in debian yet (I don't know if it supports arm or not). Ah, thanks. I was surprised to see it not yet built and know I know why. :-) It would be useful to know if the gdc 4.4 is working. It's unclear to me that the original poster tried ...

Re: Raspbian vs Wheezy (beta) Mono support

As far as I'm aware, the issue requires a fix to Mono upstream in Debian Wheezy armhf. Does anyone know if this issue has been fixed in Debian Wheezy armhf? If so, I can pull down the sources and attempt a build for Raspbian and see how it turns out. Also, does Arch have a working version of Mono fo...

Re: D compiler on Raspbian - problems

I've been wanting to get a compiler for the D programming language (http://dlang.org/) working on the Raspberry Pi. The compiler is gcc with support for D patched in ( https://github.com/D-Programming-GDC/GDC ). gdc has been gotten to work on the RPi, with the old squeeze image ( https://bitbucket....

"Configure the package manager The repository on security.debian.org couldn't be accessed, so its updates will not be made available to you at this time. You should investigate this later. I believe what you are describing as the "bios looking interface" is probably raspi-config. You can get to this by using the following command at the command line prompt: sudo raspi-config With this you can change the 'pi' user password and then use 'pi' and the password you chose to log into the sy...

Re: Emulated Games, Permissions and Distributions

As the author of a Spectrum game I would like to give permission for it to be distributed for use on the RPi, and it seems to me to make sense to put it as part of the FUSE package for Raspbian. But this would not be a surrender of all rights, nor open-sourcing of the game code; merely permission f...

Re: raspbian version

Raspbian doesn't really have a version in the traditional sense. Rather, Raspbian is a rebuild of the Debian Wheezy armhf repository and the 1000's of packages that comprise the repository are updated from time to time. The more pertinent question is whether your install of Raspbian (or rather the p...

I'd be happy to take a look at spitting out a MATE image this weekend, which you could evaluate as a more maintainable way of producing these images. This...

Do you have the pre-compiled Pi MATE package(s) available for download? I was starting to look at how to build MATE into the Foundation image and obviously that'd be time consuming and very much re-inventing the wheel. MATE is a supported fork of Gnome 2 which does include Nautilus. AFAIK, ports that have no plans to be included in Debian proper will probably not get a debian- mailing list, but I think an alioth.debian.org project would be approved (that would include VCS, project management tools, mailing lists, forums, etc.). Plugwash is looking into Alioth. Hopefully he'll ...

For what it's worth, I used Synaptic to install Chromium this afternoon and it works like a charm. In Synaptic I chose Chromium from Google not Chromium-browser. Synaptic fetched the dependencies and installed the package. It ran first try. Hope that's helpful to someone. I would think those would ...
