Re: Adding USB WiFi to Pi 3 **PLEASE HELP**

Hello all, This is my first post to this forum. I use my Pi 3 as an ADS-B tracker/feeder and feed sites like FlightAware with the data. I am also VERY new to Linux and anything command line. I have a problem. I need to add an external wifi dongle to the raspberry pi because where it will be placed ...

I use this driver https://github.com/EntropicEffect/rtl8822bu . I compile a number of different drivers that are available to download from http://downloads.fars-robotics.net/wifi-drivers/ . I also have a script that will determine the wifi module you use and the kernel version you have and automati...

Re: Edimax EW-7811Un wireless adapter doesn't work on Raspberry Pi 1 with latest Raspberry Pi OS Lite

The EW-7811-UN should work out of the box. No! The wireless adapter recognised by the system, see the WLANs but don't get a connect. Not with the modified wpa_supplicant.conf, not over raspi-config. LAN fine, the WLAN topic, totally crap! You've obviously screwed up something. Works fine for me on ...

Re: TP-LINK TL-WN823N V1 Wi-Fi Adapter Driver

The driver is included in the RaspOS, rtl8192cu, and always has been since approx the end of 2012. You just need to configure the wifi to get it running. What model A are you using? Command cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep Raspberry will show the Pi you are using. Also what kernel version? Command uname -a ...

Re: Edimax EW-7811Un wireless adapter doesn't work on Raspberry Pi 1 with latest Raspberry Pi OS Lite

The EW-7811-UN should work out of the box. The only thing you should need to do is create the file wpa_supplicant.conf with the correct setup. I have just made a new SD card with RaspOS 2020-08-20-raspios-buster-armhf-lite, copied a ssh file and wpa_supplicant.conf file to the boot partition. Plugge...

Re: Trying to contact MrEngman for instructions for 8188 drivers

Run the Pi 3A+ with built in wifi enabled and the mt7601 wifi connected and then you could run a command like dmesg > dmesg.txt to save the dmesg data in a file and then check the file contents using a text editor for entries referencing the mt7601 wifi. I have checked out a mt7601 on my Pi 3A+ and ...

Hi MrEngman,
Thank you for all your help.
I have tried everything you have said but still no luck.
I'm guessing that the dongle is faulty
Cheers Don....
Very odd. Have you checked dmesg for any errors?

Re: Trying to contact MrEngman for instructions for 8188 drivers

Hi Don, I have a mt7601 wifi working on a Pi4 running the same kernel version. The data from command lsmod shows the mt7601 driver is loaded so you may just need to configure your wifi. Also try commands rfkill list all sudo rfkill unblock wifi as the wifi may be blocked. Just configure the wifi usi...

Re: Setup ASUS USB-AC51 WiFi dongle on RPi2

Hi jerrymek, The mt7610 wifi driver is now included in the raspios image but it tries to load the driver firmware from a directory that does not exist. I found a solution that involved installing an older firmware package that I found on the Debian web site. This installs the firmware for the mt7610...

I installed your driver the other day, and it was working fine. I did a full-upgrade today and apparently got a new kernel. NB: I got the same result for "uname -a" before the update, and after the update and a reboot. Given that, I wondered whether I wouldn't need to reinstall your driver. But it ...

Re: RTL8812 Driver Installed - USB NIC Not Detected

Looking at the driver source code you are using it does not include the USB ID for your wifi so the driver will not be installed when booting the Pi. I compile a variety of out of tree drivers for the Raspbian OS and the USB ID your wifi uses is in the RTL8822BU driver I compile. The drivers I compi...

You are using an old kernel version and the USB ID of the wifi module you are trying to use was not included in the original version of the driver. I have updated the driver for kernel 4.14.34-v7+ #1110 so if you run the install-wifi script again it should install the updated version of the driver a...

To get an up to date scan list you should use command sudo iwlist wlan0 scan using sudo . I'm not sure where iwlist .. scan gets it's info from but unless you use sudo iwlist ... it appears to get the scan data from stored data. Using sudo iwlist ... it appears to do a totally new scan.
