Re: Official 7" touchscreen backlight control

Thanks GHP, that was exactly the solution. I must have had it inside the os.system command last time.

Official 7" touchscreen backlight control

I am at a loss, I had a python script using this function running before but corrupt SD card and not backing up my files leads me to relearning :( . I am trying to turn on and off the backlight for the 7" official touchscreen using the "echo 1 / 0" commands. When I run the script I get a syntax on t...

Delayed shutdown with screen off commands

I'm running into an issue where after roughly 30s to 1min my code is no longer working. The physical setup has a trigger that flips a relay to complete the circuit from 3v3 to GPIO 25 with an inline resistor. When I remove the trigger the screen goes black and initiates a scheduled shutdown. Reapply...

Re: Pi in the Car - Accessory Power Monitoring

I like the sound/look of the layout, I have everything I'd need except a base transistor to put it together. Quick question, forgive my lack of diagram knowledge, but what is being shown with the 2 triangles pointing at each other as the Accessory feed goes to Relay 1? Also: 1 - Not very familiar wi...

Re: Pi in the Car - Accessory Power Monitoring

I wanted to follow up with an update and also a semi-related question. So I created the circuit as you showed and it was doing exactly as expected. I was embarrassed with my custom board :? so I found an optically isolated relay with triggers to perform the same task. Got the code working and the re...

Re: Pi in the Car - Accessory Power Monitoring

All three responses are awesome options. The Mausberry seems like the most complete unit, will probably fall back on that if I don't make any progress. I would like to explore the opto isolator a little more. My difficulty with the opto isolator is that I can't seem to grasp the specs on them. - The...

Pi in the Car - Accessory Power Monitoring

I have a situation where I'm using the RasPi in a vehicle. I have it being powered off of constant power but I wish to have it sense the Ignition (Accessory) power being removed as a GPIO input to then initiate a delayed shutdown script. I already have a timed relay to switch power from constant pow...

Different Resolutions for commands and X

So I have a small composite 3.5 inch screen I'm using with my Pi. I have seen numerous posts on how to change the resolution to better suit these small screens via the /boot/config.txt file, which I've done to make the text look much nicer. When I go into X, this resolution carries over and causes m...

Re: Modifying a 3.5" car display for USB power.

I tried soldering onto the positive side of the capacitor, but when I go to power the screen, I get a quick flash of the screen and then it goes back. I've tried playing around with a few 5v spots on the PCB but its the same quick flash then black each time. Anyone have any ideas as to what might be...

Re: Raspberry Pi tablet

I'm creating a similar setup to what you have and was wondering what 16v battery pack you were using. Ideally I'd like to use something like a 10000 mAh mobile phone battery pack to power both the monitor and Pi but they typically run on a 5v only level.
