No mail command with heirloom-mailx on Rasbian-Stretch

I have previously used heirloom-mailx with ssmtp using the command "mail" to provide email on Rasbian-Wheezy and Rasbian-Jessie. When I installed heirloom-mailx on Rasbian-Stretch, running mail returns: "-bash: mail: command not found" With Rasbian-Wheezy and Rasbian-Jessie and heirloom-mailx instal...

Re: GPIO Cycle after button

I have a work-around for the problem. I did not pursue rolling back the RPi.GPIO module because next time I were to do a general software update, the module would get replaced with the later faulty one. Since I only need a slow repeat rate for the GPIO.wait_for_edge, after executing the code followi...

Re: GPIO Cycle after button

Thanks for the reply, kylerichards89. That was the procedure I carried out, using 0.5.6. At step 4 I received the following errors after entering the command: sudo python setup.py install. running install running build running build_py creating build creating build/lib.linux-armv6l-2.7 creating buil...

Re: "RuntimeError: Conflicting edge detection events already

There is still a problem with RPi.GPIO 0.5.8. Please see my comments at: http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewt ... 19#p642319.
After detecting the falling edge,

Code: Select all

while True:
      GPIO.wait_for_edge(23, GPIO.FALLING)
the following code loops without any further edge changes.

Re: GPIO Cycle after button

Hi kylerichards89.
Could you (or someone else) please show me how to uninstall RPi.GPIO 0.5.8 and install 0.5.6. I Tried the method given in http://www.raspberrypi-spy.co.uk/2012/0 ... n-library/, but when I do the install step 4, I get a fatel error.

Re: GPIO Cycle after button

I have the same problem. I use a switch to trigger a camera when a garden gate is opened. This has been working for many months but after updating my Pi yesterday from 3.12.21+ #689 to 3.12.28+ #709, one edge trigger causes the camera trigger code to loop non-stop. I have tried adding a bouncetime =...

Re: weird lircd behaviour since 3.10.18

I have just re-checked the header pulse timing and clock frequency using irsend and an oscilloscope. I have one channel of the 'scope connected to the GPIO output pin driving the IR diode transmitter and the other channel connected to the output of a TOSP4828 IR receiver. With Pi software version at...

Re: weird lircd behaviour since 3.10.18

This problem has now been diagnosed and fixed as of a couple of days ago.
Perform a sudo rpi-update to load the corrected version of lircd.
A software version equal or later then the following will produce the correct timing for lircd commands.
3.12.18+ #677 PREEMPT Mon Apr 28 22:45:00 BST 2014.

mjpg_streamer problem with tmpfs

When I use mjpg_streamer with raspistill, storing the jpg on the SD card, I can stream the jpg images into a Google Chrome web browser on a Windows PC and to midori on the raspberry desktop (although midori only displays 1 image at a time, not a stream). If I try the same but using tmpfs i.e. a jpg ...

Re: LIRC GPIO driver for homebrew adapter

Hi yonubear . Where are you putting the lirc_rpi.ko? I have also tried some experiments with the Bengt Martensson lirc_rpi.ko, using the compiled copy from his web site, http://harctoolbox.org/lirc_rpi.html, (which I think is the same as in the zip file on the Feb 02 post above). I haven't been able...

Re: LIRC GPIO driver for homebrew adapter

is it possible to have say 2 it emitters on 2 GPO pins and send them seperate codes? Yes, it's possible, search for "Bengt Martensson" in this thread. The last time I checked you still had to compile his version of the module on your own. An atlernaitve to modifying the lirc software would to drive...

Re: weird lircd behaviour since 3.10.18

I don't know how to try this old version.
I ran the following:
sudo rpi-update 69af0bf569f66fa3262f2b46e5e636742de48dcb
but received a ERROR 404: Not Found, so obviously not the correct approach.

Re: weird lircd behaviour since 3.10.18

I have now checked the lirc timing problem on a number of versions of software. These produce the correct timing: versions 3.6.11+ #363 through to 3.6.11+ #557 (the last in the 3.6.xx series I could find) These produce the wrong timing: versions 3.10.13+ #555 through to 3.10.28+ #634 (latest release...

Re: weird lircd behaviour since 3.10.18

I have attached the oscilloscope waveforms for the above post. There are 4 screen shots: The top two, 1 and 2, are for my later software, 3.10.25+ #622. This timing is wrong. The bottom two, 3 and 4, are for mrgrey earlier software, 3.6.11+ #557. This is the timing that should be produced by the lir...

Re: weird lircd behaviour since 3.10.18

Using another SD card, I have installed a copy of the git hash version supplied by mrgrey, as follows; I can confirm that lirc produces the correct timing with this version! sudo rpi-update 8234d5148aded657760e9ecd622f324d140ae891 (note that this errors if 'fab' is included in the command).
