Or you can run KVM under Debian on an x86 system, and run Windows 10 VMs in that.
That works for me.

Maybe install “fauxmo” on your pi - it emulates a Wemo device (using python).
Google Home supports Wemo, so they say.
It works for me using Alexa.

I would get a micro SD card and install raspbian on that.
On my pi3 I can watch YouTube no problem e.g. Black Sabbath Snowblind.

Re: Screwed up my HomeBridge

Maybe you are running homebridge as user pi after installing it ? Probably, we want to run homebridge as user homebridge (for service at startup) not as pi. And have it installed in /usr/bin/homebridge And set the defaults (in /etc/default ) so homebridge knows where to find the config.json HOMEBRID...

Ah that link is for 2014 (Raspbian Wheezy) so their scripts probably don’t work with Raspbian Stretch.
Maybe post a question in Nordvpn forum if it is a paid service you have?

Re: How do I do an HTTP POST?

Maybe you could have a python program on the pi looking at the state of a switch connected to a pi GPIO pin, then send a POST to the approprate URL (using the python “requests” library). Note you don’t want more than 3.3 volts on the pi GPIO pins. Also you could use curl from the pi command line to ...

As a side note, for that "custom heating system" I would drop the external 3rd party service and IFTTT. Just use OpenHAB on a pi and mqtt, and reporgram the smart outlets using e.g. Tasmota. Thats what I do, so no dependency on the internet...

Re: Need help with LED'S on rpm 3b+

re "why they need 5V also through their input signal?"... Depending on the manufacturer, the data sheet typically states that you need at least 3.5V for them to recognize the data as HIGH level (70% of 5V). That may be why 3V3 does not work.

Re: Need help with LED'S on rpm 3b+

As you are powering the neopixels from 5V, the 3V3 from the pi gpio pin may not reliably trigger them. Some people use a level shifter to get the pi 3V3 to 5V.

Maybe try powering them using 3V3. Should be ok as you are only using five pixels.

Re: Controlling RPi via another RPi (WIFI)

Yes and you can use MQTT with python. Assuming you have installed mosquitto on the pi, and pip, then

Code: Select all

sudo pip install paho-mqtt
In your python you can then have

Code: Select all

import paho.mqtt.clent as client
Then you can connect, publish, subscribe and get commands from other devices using mqtt.
