Ah, 'tis good to be a fully qualified brave electrician fool. And an American - so I only have to worry about 110 volts at my light switches. Starting with controlling the desk lamp is a good idea. Easy to modify and disposable when fried. Good Luck, and stay safe.

Wow, nearly 2 years late to the game. But I just set up a Pi with a 1-27-2014 version of wheezy. While installing tightvncserver, I got the inssserv warning mentioned here. I suspected the solution would be to add the headers as mentioned elsewhere, but wanted to try the old sudo apt-get dist-upgrad...
