Re: Java API for Accessing the RPi Cam

@Hopding Neat project. Is the source code for JRPiCam.jar available?

Re: Mythtv Working (Packages Provided)

I tried a few searches ("recommended sdcard", "sdcard rating", etc), but didn't see a card review thread. I'll keep trying, but if you get a chance to post the magic search (or link), that would be appreciated.

Re: Mythtv Working (Packages Provided)

@bluenote - very interesting. Can you provide more details about the SDCards that worked well? Where they also class 10? I've had couple of TopRam cards die, but I've never been sure why. Lately, GSkill cards seem to work well for me (32gb class 10). I'd really like to find a Pi recommended set of c...

Re: Mythtv Working (Packages Provided)

FWIW, the latest versions of Kodi (xbmc) include software based support for decoding mpeg, and I found these to be very "skippy", even on Pi 2. However, if you enabled the hardware based mpeg decoder (via the pi keys), such playback is stable as always. Just thought I'd mention it, 'cause I saw such...

Re: Mythtv Working (Packages Provided)

With the recent release of the Pi 2, maybe it's time for another shot at getting the MythTV Backend running on a Pi. Anybody try installing lately? I simply installed Raspbian, added deb-multimedia.org to my sources, and installed via apt. I got everything installed fine and configured with my Hdho...

espeak truncates beginning of sentence

I am using espeak as described in the teaching / learning resource: THE TURING TEST http://www.raspberrypi.org/learning/turing-test-lessons/ The problem is the first word or two of a sentence is routinely truncated from playback when invoking espeak from the command line (and passing the text to ren...

Re: Mythtv Working (Packages Provided)

Prior posts reported some problems where solved by enabling IPv6. Might be worth a try.

Re: Mythtv Working (Packages Provided)

Not sure if it will help, but maybe try changing the ip address in mythtv-setup from loop back (127.0.0.1), to the actual ip address of the backend?

Re: Mythtv Working (Packages Provided)

Well, I found a recipe that works for me - pretty much exactly what the beginning of the original post said to do. The key is NOT to add in any "http://www.deb-multimedia.org" repos to */etc/apt/sources.list* (source or binary) when using the prebuilt packages. (By adding in such things along the wa...

Re: Mythtv Working (Packages Provided)

Trying to figure out why working mythtv-backend changed to producing 'illegal statement' error. I'm trying to provide the Raspian Image I'm using. Does this help? $ cat /etc/os-release PRETTY_NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux 7 (wheezy)" NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux" VERSION_ID="7" VERSION="7 (wheezy)" ID=raspbi...

Re: Mythtv Working (Packages Provided)

Well, things were going well, until I tried using newer packages (mythtv_0.26.1+fixes20140122-dmo1_all.deb). Now I'm getting this error whenever trying to install 'mythtv-backend' (and even when manually launching the mythtv-backend binary): sudo /etc/init.d/mythtv-backend start Starting MythTV serv...

Re: Mythtv Working (Packages Provided)

I describe my current status as: "still compiling 'mythtv-dmo-0.26.1+fixes20140122' ":) . It has been compiling/building the mythtv project overnight, and is still building away nicely. If the mythtv package build succeeds, I'll try installing those debs next.

Re: Mythtv Working (Packages Provided)

For anyone else trying to compile packages yourself: I ran into a problem trying to meet dependencies for building libfaac. The original instructions talk about having to edit the control file, but this was not working for me. I finally discovered you can now just install the required lib: libmp4v2-...
