Re: (UPDATE) Drivers for TL-WN725N V2 - 3.6.11+ -> 3.10.33+

I am trying to do this but do not have internet access on my Pi. So I am trying to put the driver firmware onto the SD card and access it from there to install. Hoping i can get some help, i have spent about 8 hours over the course of several days, but i am just learning all of this. @LaFambe @MrEn...

Re: (UPDATE) Drivers for TL-WN725N V2 - 3.6.11+ -> 3.10.32+

So no insmod needed before depmod? That's where I ran into a hurdle and decided to correct it with a reboot since insmod wasn't allowing me to insert to the future kernel. I guess it's not needed because it's not actually running hmm? So I suppose it would be quite easy to modify LaFambe 's script t...

Re: (UPDATE) Drivers for TL-WN725N V2 - 3.6.11+ -> 3.10.32+

I do this hack to get the driver to install online, without being wired to the Ethernet cable. Can anybody think of a better hack to do this? I update my RPi through the TL-WN725N v2 USB wireless card, so it must survive after I do sudo rpi-update and and subsequent required reboot. The current meth...

How to remove old kernels and modules

I have only a 4GB card to run Raspbian. I recently found that I have the following module directories:
3.10.25+
3.10.28+
3.10.30+
3.10.32+

I wish to purge anything that is pre 3.10.32+ How can I do this? apt-get seems limited, and rpi-update seems to just want to update.

Re: New Pi Raspbian - Root filesystem has insufficient space

Thanks. This seems like the first time I've been to that repository, albeit I find it odd--memory fading. I guess the best advice I can give to someone with a 4GB or less card is to go forgo NOOBS and use Raspbian straight away. I'm still trying to grasp if NOOBS is really for noobs. I read to get R...

Re: mount.cifs error 115 when trying to mount a Windows shar

Are you sure you are both on the same subnet mask? Try from the RPi traceroute 192.37.24.40 You should get a one-line report, not two. If this is the case, then yes, you're on the same subnet. If not, then you're being routed, so it's not a flat network, which means yes, the uni might have security ...

Re: New Pi Raspbian - Root filesystem has insufficient space

Sadly I wish I had read this when I first got my Pi :( I think the multiple failure of the lack of disk space during the first installation and later upgrades and firmware upgrades were some major attributing factors to file corruption on a SanDisk 4GB class 4 card. Now RPi ships with a sexy 8GB--no...

Great way to start with RPi (Raspbian), but I think there should be one more line like: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo apt-get install rpi-update sudo rpi-update sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo apt-get install rpi-update sudo rpi-update The...

Hi!

I don't understand what you mean by this? Do you know where this limitation is stated? Like is it on the Samba documentation?

Re: Sharing files from OSX with Raspbmc

Hi tvjon. frustrated _pi_user doesn't want to mount his PI on the Mac. He wants the reverse, to mount his Mac (3TB drive, etc.) on his PI. I wish to do the same, share a folder from my Mac to my PI via Samba. I thought I already replied to this, but I see it didn't go through :-/ Hmm. @frustrated _p...

Re: How to use hardware-accelerated encoding/decoding

I guess I didn't ask correctly :( Will any software doing encoding or decoding utilize the on-board GPU? I see pay licenses for MPEG2 and VP1, so I'm wondering how this platform works with hardware-accelerated graphics work. On GNU/Linux, it's usually transparent with GPU libraries being used. In th...

How to use hardware-accelerated encoding/decoding

What application will allow me to utilize the hardware-accelerated encoding/decoding of Raspberry Pi? I've used apt-get to install x264, but perhaps it won't work as well since it might only use the CPU? I have installed Raspian. I'm quite new to this :) I'm actually interested in both encoding and ...
