Re: Why are you protesting SOPA when Eric Cantor stopped all action towards it?

<t>The logic that if something bad exists that you oppose that real action is required is flawed.  <insert cause here: murder, rape, theft, child abuse, the list is endless> happens everyday, I"m assuming nobody condones <insert cause here>, yet I don"t see a massive outpouring of support against <i...

<t>Just to throw my 2c in here...<br/> <br/> I'm glad that SOPA-day has been and gone, it sees the passing of two ridiculous things.  SOPA/PIPA in their current form would have never have been passed in a month of Sundays.  A law is only as good as it is enforceable, the provisions in SOPA/PIPA were...

Re: XBMC running on Raspberry Pi

<t>Don't you have your decode and encode the wrong way around?  If the RPi is pushing bits via HDMI to the TV via HDMI, then it's the RPi that's encoding it into whatever bitstream format HDMI uses, which is presumably covered in terms of license fees paid to Broadcom whom I would presume then passe...

Hopefully raspi will work seamlessly with the linux usbnet drivers making the need for a physical ethernet adapter unnecessary. Model A all the way baby! ;-)

Re: What did your first programs do?

<t>BASIC, then Z80 assembler. I\'d written a bunch of home game programs, the first serious program I wrote was a Z80 disassembler. After that I went to C, C++, ML, a smattering of prolog, Perl and eventually made Java my bread and butter for a living. I\'ve started dusting off my C/C++ skills for r...

Method: Find a broken one off of ebay, then you'd get it even cheaper and you'd be breathing life back into it too :)

Re: Cases for the Raspberry Pi

I was hoping that ethernet and power were on the same side of the device so that it would be easy to create a blade type cabinet for a collection of these. Could you imagine having a pi cubed? (a collection of pi's stacked together in one case).

Re: Sticker/paypal order issue

btw... shot over an email to you Liz with the original details. Just as a follow up, paypal does show that the transaction completed successfully and that the money did make it to raspi, but the last raspi email that I received said that the order had been cancelled, rather than on back order.

Re: If you could order now..
