Accessing the RPi cam stream through C++

So I've been trying to figure out how to access the RPI cam stream through C++. I've been google-ing everywhere but there doesn't seem to be one main way of accessing the RPi cam stream. It seems most people have to manually create something that can be used for that purpose. What is the main way of...

Will a cronjob execute imemdiately if device was off

So say I have a cron job running every day at 8 AM. If my pi was off, say from 7AM to 3PM, and then I turn my pi on, will the cronjob execute immediately or would it not execute at all since it missed its slot?

Re: Unplug and plug the pi once a day - will it short it out

So what I've encounter is that sometimes due to card problems the pi will simply shutdown and the wifi adapter will light up solid blue. The pi is pretty much like shutdown so the only way I can restart it is by unplugging and plugging. Ahh.... So, is it really the case that "The pi is pretty much ...

Unplug and plug the pi once a day - will it short it out?

So I am wondering if unplugging the pi physically to restart it once a day will cause any problem in the long run? Could it damage /short it out somehow? I need the pi to be running continously and I wanna cover the case if the pi shutdowns. I have a watchdog in place but I'm concerned about physica...

Do you mean the Pi connecting to the stationary location instead?

Re: How to SSH into pi using Tethering from smartphone

Thank you all for these suggestions. I am wondering what you guys think might provide this functionality?
For the pi to connect to a "movable" internet connection ( not tethering, but how about one of those Verizon Mobile hotspot), and then someone ssh's into it from, say another location ?

Re: ext4_journal_check_start: Detected aborted journal -Pi f

The two messages are probably related. Did you run fsck on reboot? That may fix it. No, they're not. The second isn't relevant at all (covered it lots of forum posts alreday). The first one shows a corrupted root file system. Perhaps time to get a new SD card if that happens more than once. Do you ...

Re: How to SSH into pi using Tethering from smartphone

If I assume that I will have knowledge of the IP address of the smartphone, say I get it beforehand, how would I fix the problem with port-forwarding? Is the port-forwarding going to be problematic on the pi or on the phone itself?

How to SSH into pi using Tethering from smartphone

So I am in need of finding a way to be able to SSH into the Rpi from anywhere. The pi will be connected to a smartphone's tethered connection. I am wondering what would be required for this to happen?

Can I delete syslog or any other log, and let it re-create

So I am thinking of ways to be able to delete logs after a long time of use of the Rpi. I might have one running for over a year and I want to make sure there is enough space. What would be the best way to clear logs?

How does wpa_supplicant handle open networks with SSID ?

If I specify a network with an SSID and key_mgmt=NONE, and if I have several open networks, would the PI connect to the one that matches the SSID or just pick one that has no key? I am wanting the pi to only connect to MY open network and no other network.

Writing SD card image to microSD card. Rpi B+ not booting

So I have an image that I made using a 4GB SD card. I am writing this image for the B+ and I am writing it on a Kingston 8GB Class 10 microSD card. If I use the Kingston in a normal Pi, it works great. However, when I put the microSD in the B+, it never boots... I know the B+ is working as I used it...

4GB SD Card image to 16GB SD Card - only 4GB storage shown

Hi everyone. So I created my Raspberry pi setup and everything was great. I originally used a 4gb card and I made an image out of it. I then decided to write it to a 16gb sdcard since I needed some more space, but now I notice that the pi only recognizes the original 4gb space, and so the rest 12gb ...
