Re: Raspbian and the 3.12 kernel.

But then you are using the HiLink version, right? I have both versions, and only the HiLink version works with a simple mode switch (i.e. without the huawei_cdc_ncm driver).

Re: Raspbian and the 3.12 kernel.

For anyone who has the same device and stumbles upon this thread:
Seems it isn't in the 3.12 kernel but rather in the 3.13. *sigh*

Re: Raspbian and the 3.12 kernel.

I upgraded to Jessie, and tried sudo BRANCH=next rpi-update. That only got me to 3.10.18. How do I go about installing the latest 3.12 package?

That said, for the Raspberry PI there are a lot of examples and libraries in Python, so it all depends on where you want to go next with your code...

Re: Python or Java?

Java. You have access to an unparalleled eco-system. Also, I'd bet the performance of the Oracle HotSpot JVM compares quite favorably to the Python implementation you'd normally use on the Raspberry.

Raspbian and the 3.12 kernel.

Hi all, It seems my new Huawei 3131s-2 3G modem needs the huawei_cdc_ncm driver, which seems to be available with the 3.12 kernel. Any chance Raspbian will move to 3.12 anytime soon? If not, is there any chance the driver and associated patch-sets could be back-ported to 3.10? Who would I need to bu...
