Re: Mono (C#) 2.11.4 hard-float for Raspberry Pi (EXPERIMENT

simonmcc,

Can you (or anyone else) help me find "blank.cur" ? I have been trying to hunt it down but I'm pretty inexperienced. Or if there is any other solution to getting the cursor to disappear, with no wait, I would be open to other options.

Thanks!

Re: seamless looping

Brendan, You have two options for looping from this forum: 1. a looping method with sound but a slight break -- I haven't tried this one, but it was recently posted (by denjell I think), and sounds like a great option for showing regular video that has a beginning and an end. If you do a fade in and...

Yeah, I would be interested. And can you tell us the exact version of Debian you used?

Thanks!

Re: seamless looping

Soft float debian "wheezy" Sorry if I look like a total noob, first time using linux. Well out of my depth on this one. If I'm appearing to NOT be a noob, that's smoke and mirrors, I assure you. I only started to use linux to get this one problem solved, and got my son who knows some programming to...

Directory doesn't exist, can someone please post a command directly to editing the Video.c? Apparently on mine /opt/vc doesn't even exist. Hate not having a GUI, how do you know the file structure? Geal, What distro are you using? Regarding a GUI, what I posted above is a simple solution in part be...

Re: seamless looping

Unfortunately putting the code into the /etc/init.d folder to auto run on start up doesn't work. Can anyone help? The code itself runs ok when fired up manually. MTIA Rob Yeah, I am finding that too with the latest distro. When my son set this up for me, the latest version of Debian for the Pi was ...

Re: Automatic setup for RTL8188CUS based wifi adapters

Mr Engman, I've been combing through these posts to see why I can't get this script to work. I'm definitely learning more about linux (even if it's still close to nothing) so that part is good! I keep getting to the point where it says: The wifi adapter is installed. Waiting for the wifi adapter to ...

Skeeball,

Good to hear! With Scep's help I was able to get the mistakes in the instructions post fixed, so I think it's correct now.

List 30 minute edit limit in FAQ

Please update the forum FAQ section on editing posts to reflect the fact that editing is only available for 30 minutes. Though it says editing is "sometimes" available "for only a limited time after the post was made", there is no indication of just how short that time is. I had to find out the hard...

Re: seamless looping

No problem Skeeball. I am so reliant on other people's help with this type of thing that I consider it a necessary karmic practice to share any solution I can find. Plus, since I'm still hoping to get the audio issue sorted out, I really don't consider everything solved for me in terms of my overall...

Re: seamless looping [updated 19/7/12]

Sorry Skeeball! My son had a lot of other stuff going on, so he didn't get to writing out the instructions right away. Keep in mind that he was writing them for me, and I know next to nothing about programming, so that's why he was so explicit about all the details. Let me know if you have any probl...

Re: Need help : recording with USB webcam on button press

Well I'm sure there must be a more simple way than what I'm going to suggest, but one way would be to buy an "I-PAC" keyboard emulator. It's designed for people who want to create their own arcade cabinets to run emulations of old arcade games. It makes it very easy to wire up a button, and then the...

Playing Audio Files

I've been trying to figure out how to get hello_audio to play audio files. Based on the source, it appears to be hard coded to play sinewave.c and not accept other audio files. I'm aware of the various full featured audio players for debian but I would prefer a bare-bones and open source audio playe...

Re: seamless looping

Thanks Dom! Outstanding. I love that the solution was so simple. I am now getting a video loop that doesn't have even the slightest hesitation. Next I need to add looping sound (synchronized, of course), and I need a way to have the Pi be plug-and-play for my video loops. I need to have it set up so...

Re: Running video through hello_video not working

I wanted to share some solutions I have found regarding the codec issue: I use Adobe products to create and edit video, and although they list h.264 as a rendering option, the resulting file is either an .mp4 or an .m4v, not an .h264. I haven't found any way to directly create a file with .h264 as t...

Re: seamless looping

Is this video only? And you are looping from beginning? I would image hello_video could be modified quite easily to seek back to beginning of file when end is reached, and continue submitting frames to the already open codec. As the start of file is a seek point I don't think there will be any prob...

Re: seamless looping

The codecs that work well with the Pi (H264, DivX) aren't really suited for seamless looping, as they use temporal compression (they discard the pixels that remain the same between frames). For seamless looping it would be better to use a codec such as PNG or M-JPEG, these only compress within the ...

seamless looping

Does anyone have suggestions on how to achieve seamless video looping? I have Raspbmc (XBMC) installed on my Pi, and figured out how to loop a video -- it works, but with a few seconds of black screen before loading again. I make sculpture using video projection, and I need to be able to loop with n...
