Re: RetroArch on Raspbian: the tutorial

Is anybody else having trouble with the dispmanx driver on the Pi 2? The RGUI works fine, but when launch a ROM with Genesis Plus GX I get: RetroArch: rarch_log_libretro: [libretro INFO] :: Frontend supports RGB565 - will use that instead of XRGB1555. RetroArch: rarch_log_libretro: [libretro INFO] :...

Re: Pcsx_ReARMed on Pi2

I went ahead and opened a bug report:
https://github.com/notaz/pcsx_rearmed/issues/42

So hopefully notaz will be able to fix the issue upstream.

Re: Mupen64plus will not compile rpi2

When building SDL2, configure with --host=arm-raspberry-linux and make sure it says the GLES drivers are enabled

It should say something like:

Code: Select all

Video drivers : dummy opengl_es1 opengl_es2

Re: "Casting" Youtube videos to the Pi like with a Chromecas

The Yatse remote for Android can "cast" YouTube videos to a Pi running XBMC/Kodi. Just open the YouTube video on your phone, click the share button, and choose "Send to XBMC"

This also works with local files I believe and maybe a few other things, but not DRMed services like Netflix

It won't be possible until game maker adds a RPi exporter

It looks like it's planned though:

Re: Retroarch cores now made usable by Pi 2?

A couple differences I noticed between the PES retroarch build parameters and what was suggested by Vanfanel: PES is set to disable-udev and doesn't specify anything for oss, while Vanfanel's instructions say to enable-udev and disable-oss. Any reason behind these differences? The udev input driver...

Re: Retroarch cores now made usable by Pi 2?

Thanks steev. Is there any advantage to cross compiling in this case other than to speed up the compilation/linking process itself? I'd prefer to just build on the Pi if possible, but I also want to ensure that what's built is optimal. No, cross-compiling is just to speed up the build process. Thou...

Thanks to your instructions I got it to build. However, it still isn't working for me. I suspect something is wrong with my setup, so I'll try again with a fresh sdcard (and possibly different distro) EDIT : Yes, there was something wrong with my Raspbian install. I switched to a different sdcard wi...

Re: Retroarch cores now made usable by Pi 2?

Genesis Plus GX is full speed now. Probably one of the most accurate Genesis/Megadrive/CD emulators around. PCSX ReARMed now runs most games at full speed. Since the Pi 2 has an ARMv7 processor, it can use Exophase's NEON GPU plugin, which is very accurate and fast. It can also render games at highe...

It is fully compatible with existing Pi software, but the OS images need to be updated (which many have done already)

Re: Dreamcast Emulation on the Pi2? Yes, Really!

OK I got sound to work by copying some OSS code from the Pandora port Put this somewhere in your Makefile: CXXFLAGS += -DUSE_OSS -DTARGET_RPI Now edit core/linux-dist/main.cpp: Before main(), insert: #ifdef TARGET_RPI #include <sys/soundcard.h> static int audio_fd = -1; void init_sound() { if((audio...

Re: Dreamcast Emulation on the Pi2

Nice, Soul Calibur is very playable :) The file-based shm workaround they used causes little hang-ups with a slow sdcard. I get better performance if I copy the emulator folder into a tmpfs first: $ mkdir tmpfs $ sudo mount -t tmpfs none tmpfs/ $ cp -a * tmpfs/ And then run it from there Audio seems...

Re: Emulation on the Raspberry Pi/Pi2 (Updated 13/02/2015)

Make sure you have the Dreamcast BIOS files in ./data/

I got it to work (without audio), but I only tested 2 games:
Sonic Adventure - Pretty choppy
Marvel vs Capcom 2 - Playable

My wired 360 controller worked without any special configuration.

Hi, I'm also having these issues on a brand new Samsung 16GB Evo Class 10 (specifically this one ). Like the OP, I'm having intermittent read issues on boot. Re: Raspberry Pi 2 - What would it mean for emulation?

Did you try the gpsp core? That one runs well even on the Pi 1 I think. The VBA cores are pretty demanding, even my Cortex A9 tablet can't handle them. For SNES I had pretty good results with the Snes9x-Next and CATSFC (for SuperFX games) cores. Not sure if it matters, but I'm using the threaded vid...

Re: Raspberry Pi 2 - What would it mean for emulation?

How did you get mupen64plus-libretro to work? I tried 2 ways: 1) Leave Makefile alone, run 'make platform=rpi' (no NEON) = Black screen with just the audio 2) Edit rpi section of Makefile, remove '-DARMV5_ONLY' and add 'HAVE_NEON=1' else ifneq (,$(findstring rpi,$(platform))) TARGET := $(TARGET_NAME...
