Re: Cannot use 320MB of RAM!

Fixed! I had set gpu_mem=48 but forgot to comment out the gpu_mem_512 default value Now it doesn't run out of RAM. But I have to ask why is the GPU memory default so bloody high? It doesn't give enough system RAM There must be something completely wrong with your system. If "top" - which usually nee...

Re: apt-get doesn't work

Still having a problem. All hits on apt-get update -edit- changing the repos to archive.raspbian.org Now I get several "Get" followed by sitting at 100% [2 PACKAGES BZIP2 0 B] for a VERY long time (> 3 minutes) and then it says Fetched 7535 kB in 10 min 24s (12.1 kB/s) W: Failed to fetch bzip2:/var/...

Re: apt-get doesn't work

Hmm, that's still showing the old version. Perhaps the mirrors haven't all been updated yet? Wait a while (a day perhaps) and then try the apt-get update again. You should see some "GET" messages instead of "HIT". (GET means "new version found - downloading". HIT means "found same version - no down...

Re: apt-get doesn't work

Strange. That should have worked. I'm showing the current version of libtiff as 3.9.6-11, but yours is showing 3.9.6-6? What does the output of "apt-cache policy libtiff4" show? libtiff4: installed: (none) Candidate: 3.9.6-6 Version table: 3.9.6-6 0 500 http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/ ...

apt-get doesn't work

Now I finally have my pi "sorta" working but the keyboard still repeats sometimes. Now my problem is with apt-get though This is the image: http://www.cnx-software.com/2012/07/31/84-mb-minimal-raspbian-armhf-image-for-raspberry-pi/ (no GUI) for example apt-get install links2 gives me this Building p...

How is that comment not a non-sequitur?

HNY 2014
"How is it a problem" actually makes sense. Mine does it too and I assume it is by design.
So unless there is an actually problem other than the splash screen, why worry?

Re: Cannot log in because of keyboard repeats

Thanks for the replies It is highly likely that keyboard needs more power than the Pi can supply. You really want a very basic USB keyboard with no extra functions. The keyboard is rated for 120mA - USB spec allows 500... +1 (I usually say "cheap & cheerful wired variety) Your PSU should be spec'd a...

Cannot log in because of keyboard repeats

I just got my RsPI to boot but I absolutely cannot log in because when I type a key it usually repeats several times. And Linux in its infinite wisdom doesn't display ANYTHING in the password field making it totally impossible to figure out if it screwed up or not. Here is the disk image I am using:...
