Re: Peer-to-Peer Comms - Looking for General Advice

Thank you for the replies! @RpiName: Thanks, I'll look into that! My advice to keep it short and save you from headaces and disapointement: Not suitable for person to person com and be portable. By the way wifi range suck compared to pmr radio range. Buy a kenwood pmr with headset. You will be happy...

Peer-to-Peer Comms - Looking for General Advice

Hello, all! I've followed the Pi ever since shortly before the first iteration, and have toyed with it, setting up some simple servers and stuff, but never embarked on a serious project. A little over a month ago, my brother and I started skiing. I've been looking around online for ideas of a comm s...

^^Corrected (they just don't run very well). People are just wanting to know the difference of how well it runs on the 512mb, vs. the 256mb version.

Re: Wow! First production enclosure just arrived

Hello,

The case looks really nice! I am considering ordering one sometime in the near future...

One question that I have: Is the black case available seperately? I only see it bundled with cables.

Also, could we get pictures of the different case colors? I only see the pink and the blue...

Thanks!

Re: Minecraft Server 512mb Model B

Yes. Ok. Ive read it was quite laggy, has anyone tried it though with the new 512mb of ram??? Yes, I've read the same as well... My question is this: Is the bottleneck for the 256mb RPi the RAM or the processor? You could pre-generate maps to reduce processor utilization (I've read the CPU is pegge...

Re: Minecraft Server 512mb [RESULTS ONLY PLEASE]

I, too, have been wondering this... I can't remember what its called but someone started a project a while back (not for the pi) which was an open source minecraft compatible server software written in C++ with the intent of using less resources. Compiled to the pi I reckon it might work well but mo...

Re: New Pi with 512MB RAM - Minecraft now possible?

What about the server? I know that was possible before, but would take a really long time to 1. Generate the world, and 2. Start the server.

What was the bottleneck before? I'm thinking it was RAM...

Yes, I am having trouble with this as well... I am trying to connect to it with my iPod touch, but for some reason it just doesn't want to connect. I can connect to the VPN server on my RPi with my computer (running Windows 7), so I know the RPi VPN server is working correctly. I can connect to the ...

Very nice! I am considering making an order for one of these... Great price! A couple of quick questions though: -Raspberry Pi board is pretty much locked in place when a ribbon cable is attached to the GPIO header So... if i don't have a ribbon cable attached, can the Pi move? Mediatomb Questions

Hello, all! I am wanting to set up a media server on my RPi to stream to various devices. I am hoping to do on-the-fly transcoding with it, so that I don't need to transcode files before viewing. So, my questions: 1. Does it use the GPU for transcoding video? (if so, I wouldn't imagine on-the-fly tr...

Ok, so I do need to pay a company to be able to do it... I might as well just get one of those little boxes that you just plug into a switch (since I only need one phone).
