Re: No tvheadend

So far I have only seen one dvb tool which provides reliable timed saving for dvb programme streams. This is dvbjet. If you enter three lines into a terminal, a directory called DVBdirect is created and this contains a number of utilities including dvbjet. git clone --recursive https://github.com/li...

Re: No tvheadend

There is an ArchiWiki post which might interest those who want to devlop their knowledge of dvb. It is at "https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/DVB-T" I could not get the vlc suggestions to work at first. I had to make some changes. First I had to add ":bandwidth=8" directly after the frequency figu...

No tvheadend

Since I am long retired and an early riser I have too much free time in the mornings. I have a Pi TVHat and naturally installed tvheadend. I began to look at other methods of showing TV stations. "channels.conf" is a file that is made from the TV transmitter details and tvheadend and other providers...

Re: I try to run TV HAT

Thank you very much Dougie Lawson for the information about adding dtoverlay=rpi-tv to the /boot/config.txt file. I assume that this is required by the latest Raspbian download. Why have I not seen it mentioned before? I was able to run the PI TVHat using tvheadend and rtranscode4 using the previous...

Re: Recording TV with Raspberry Pi

You do not give any information on where you are based. If you are a UK TV Licence payer, there is a huge amount of TV and radio programmes which can be legally down loaded using get-iplayer. It is quicker and easier to use this to download BBC programmes than it is to use tvheadend and the TVHat. S...

Re: TV Hat

There is so much that you do not mention. Where are you based? Have you selected the correct local transmitter? What instructions have you followed? The PiHut ones are very clear https://thepihut.com/blogs/raspberry-pi-tutorials/how-to-stream-digital-tv-with-the-raspberry-pi-tv-hat#Tvheadend%20insta...

Using a Pi TVHat, tvheadend URLs and rtranscode4

I put the following in the TVHat section and I thought i might as well post it here in case it is of use to anyone. I will accept that VLC produces a higher quality output than omxplayergui but I was curious to see if I could use tvheadend-generated URLs with the Pi TVHat and rtranscode4. My problem...

The Pi TVHAT, tvheadend URLs and gkreidls rtranscode4

I did report my attempts to use a different method of producing URLs outlined in a series of Youtube videos made by an Australian. i did manage to watch a few TV programmes but my efforts usually ended in failure. I can only assume that there was a clash with tvheadend. I did say I would report back...

Re: Can the PiTVHat work without tvheadend?

I cannot give a proper answer to the above question yet. I assume that it will work properly but not with tvdeadend installed. I made a .conf file of my favourite non-BBC channels and only had it running once. I believe that I have not been able to stop completely tvheadend by typing "sudo service t...

Can the PiTVHat work without tvheadend?

I wote a thread in the Media section after learning a little about Digital TV from videos put on youtube by an Australian. I probably should have put it in this section because I was using a Pi with a TVHat fitted to follow the procedures he was suggesting. I had to disable the Pi TVHat a number of ...

Re: How to use OMXPlayer's 'next audio stream' playback option?

If the learning curve for omxplayergui seems too steep, you could use VLC. An enhanced and accelerated version of this is now available to Raspberry Pi users by entering "sudo apt install vlc" into a Terminal after first updating and upgrading by typing "sudo apt update" and then "sudo apt dist-upgr...

Re: How to use OMXPlayer's 'next audio stream' playback option?

John did indeed forget that he had used omxplayergui to play stored llsts of radio stations. Either enter "Minimal Kiosk Browser" into a search engine or scroll down the contents of the Raspbian section until you find details of it. I would now advise any beginner to use the latest version of omxpla...

Re: How to use OMXPlayer's 'next audio stream' playback option?

Since you have had no replies, I shall make a suggestion which may be useless. When I am preparing a list of radio stations to be played using omxplayer I use the following procedures: Open up a textfile Enter the radio URLs in pairs as follows: File=URL of radio station Title=Any meaningful title e...

nlziet.nl is a paid service. Since I am unable to understand Dutch, I cannot begin to log on for the month's free trial. Have you tried using the Terminal? Re: Kweb Suite (Minimal Kiosk Browser, omxplayerGUI)

I have followed gkreidl's excellent advice to me on changing the omxplayergui player from omxplayergui to VLC to play live TV streams from tvheadend using the Pi TVHat on the omxplayergui Web menu. This has resulted in much quicker loading and much smoother playing of streams than when using omxplay...

Re: Watching live streams with the Pi, best way to do so?

Youtube UrRLs often change. One of the Monterey Bay Aquarium URLs is shown as unavailable; perhaps this is the one that you used. Enter "Monterey Bay Aquarium" into Youtube's Search engine to see if there are any other entries. If you look at Rpi_Mike's explanation of how to download and use a very ...

Re: Plex Media Server, IPTV.bundle folder move help

I hope that the following is accurate. While I can still remember historical, geographical and literary facts quite easily, I forget technical details. It is always useful to put inverted commas at the beginning and end of paths since the Pi often needs these since it does not always like gaps betwe...

I have saved an EXTM3U text file of my favourite 8 TV stations. VLC will play these and show a playlist. I saved the streams with the PI's ip address at the start followed by ":9981"and the rest of the stream details. I understand that I could use "http://localhost" instead of the the Pi's ip addres...

Re: Early Use Of The TV Hat And VLC

I am still experimenting with the TV Hat. In my first post I mentioned how to run live TV stations. A file is saved in the Downloads section of the /home/pi/ directory. If you open up that file with the Text Editor, you are given a URL address in EXTMU format. This means that you should be able to s...

Since I suggested way of setting up and playing radio station lists using omxplayergui, that program has been improved so that it can play all your audio and video media. Omxplayer is part of the Minimal Kosk Browser but works independently of it. It has a Settings feature which allows you to set up...
